You haven’t been able to buy a body on frame Jeep that isn’t a Wrangler since 1988 when they discontinued the Gladiator/J10 trucks.

Chevy Orlando.

Power steering was optional on the hatchbacks while ABS was standard, and with how large the steering wheel was it was completely unnecessary, you can easily palm the wheel at low speeds and only when stopped do you have to exert some effort. From what I remember the steering ratios were almost identical too,

It’s crazy just how much cars have fattened up in just a few years but it’s not entirely to blame on safety requirements, people’s expectations of what sort of equipment and sound levels are acceptable have gone up a lot in these last few years.

Honda’s IMA system is not very powerful (can’t propel the car using electricity only) but it is light and compact. It’s more of a torque on demand setup where the electric motor basically doubles your torque in the lower rpms and adds a bit of torque in the upper range, the gasoline engine does most of the work in

How would removing the hybrid system, which only weighs 132lbs make the car weigh anywhere near 2200lbs? Not even a Chevy spark or fiat 500 are that light. The heavy battery pack that everyone likes to bring up as being a source of massive weight savings only adds 45lbs to the cars curb weight. Unless they rebuild the

Are you just being deliberately obtuse? Because I don’t see how some dumb Volkswagen forum is in any way relevant to the discussion....

So I’m butthurt because I actually know what the hybrid system weighs, have firsthand experience with what sort of fuel economy it actually gets, and understand that swapping in a K series would be detrimental to the cars handling because it’d make it more nose heavy? Riiiight....

They’d save 45lbs by just removing the battery. The entire hybrid system weighs 132bs, not 200lbs, not 300lbs, but one hundred and thirty two pounds. Removing the LEA and replacing it with a K series would be a wash weight wise and the weight distribution would be worse.

Motortrend Crz 0-60: 8.3 seconds

The stripped out penalty box trim with nothing in it and the 62 horsepower got better mileage under the old EPA tests. Real world they’re pretty close to each other.

Just how much do you think the hybrid system weighs in the Crz? I’ll give you a hint, it’s not a lot.

Of course more uneducated drivel complaining about the Crz by people who have not driven it and hate it because it’s a hybrid. Honda quite literally gave the market a modern Crx built within the safety regulations and the vehicles they had today and all people do is complain about how they know better.

We got the hatchbacks in canada, for a car that was only sold for 2 years there's tons of em driving around. Mine just kicked over 150, 000km

Unless you're buying your cars by the pound those subcompacts are hardly a bad value. On the price difference alone between a Fiesta HB and the Focus HB (the only versions that matter) I can drive the fiesta for 54,000km essentially for free ($5200 difference, based on 9 cents/km fuel costs) Tell me, How is the Focus

The Yaris is a fwd Toyota therefore its tainted with original sin and as such is a terrible car in every way imaginable. /s

Judging by the amount of Yarises (Yarii?), Fiestas, and Versas I see daily yes, lots of people want them.

Now playing

They tested the benefit of start/stop on Fifth Gear, they ended up getting about 10% better fuel economy in the city.

New ford trucks replaced that with Tow/Haul. Instead of disabling overdrive, it now alters the shift points to keep the engine in the powerband and will downshift to provide engine braking during deceleration.

My echo is able to tell when its going uphill or downhill and will drop down into 3rd and stay there until you reach the top (or bottom) of the hill without having to push the O/D button. I assume more modern cars have this feature as well
