Jolie played Colin Farrell's mom in that abomination known as Alexander. I think they were the same age at the time. Curses!

The only age appropriate casting for older women playing grandmothers to adults goes to a very small pool, unfortunately. Off the top of my head I can only think of Betty White, Maggie Smith, and Cloris Leachman (who probably would have been awesome in Susan Sarandon's role).

The only thing I can think of that did the opposite (cast a man barely old enough to be his kid's father), is Jeffrey Dean Morgan on Supernatural.

Oooooh and you can color coordinate with that one! I may get these as stocking stuffers for my sisters this holiday season. No joke.

I have a ResQme on my keychain (it came with 2 in a pack so the other is in the car)- it has a window breaker and a seatbelt cutter. Originally bought it because I am terrified of being in a trapped car underwater but now that I live in the desert with no water anywhere, I consider it my baby/pet saving window

You can get a LifeHammer, which is well under purse size and designed to allow quick escape in case of an accident. I know about this product because a couple of weeks ago my dad texted me out of the blue, "I'm sending you a LifeHammer. Be safe." and the next day it showed up in the mail. It was simultaneously

Maybe this needs to be a thing... people scanning for kids and dogs in parked cars... of course that doesn't cover the more isolated parking lots, but it would be something.

Thank you for saving your speculation for the comments. And I am serious. I like it when journalists have ethics, it's a fine thing.

I've just gone ahead and assumed this is a premeditated murder, so I figure it was the "OK it worked" scenario, and maybe that was the real purpose of the lightbulb drop-off, to check.

He went in to check and see if the child was dead yet. That's the only possible thing I can think of. That's pure evil in my book.

My theory is that the child was dead and he saw and freaked out and didn't tell anyone. Or he saw and was all "ok, my plan worked" and didn't tell anyone. But my guess is he saw. Of course, this is speculation, so it is not in the post itself.

I'm sorry. I also wish I could post weird sex things and cute animals all day, but breaking news is breaking news.

I wonder if he had said anything about the car before? I know both parents could be in one it for sure, I guess I just want to believe this was one evil horrible person and not two. This poor baby :,(

Wow, that puts a lot of things in perspective. It's a really sad story all around. Poor kid didn't know love from either of his parents.

That almost sounds like something he'd talked about doing before, and she was either happy/upset/scared/satisfied (I don't know her motive) that he actually did it.

Wow, the both of them are fishier than South Street Seaport....

Yes. It turns out that the sexting is the big issue of today.

Thanks for basically ruining my weekend with this story. Leaving now to take my kids for as much ice cream as they can eat until they barf. Big hugs for them. They are the light of my life.

WELL THAT HEADLINE CHANGED QUICKLY.
