They do “build the cars.” Issue is that most dealerships sell cars before they even finish getting made.
Another BIG issue is that most dealerships simply add too much bullshit fees and extras to cars to make sales for most people.

The Prius didn’t really do anything revolutionary in the 2010's that it wasn’t already doing in the 2000's. It’s a better answer for defining car of that decade. 

The CUV be it the RAV4, CR-V, CX-5, etc... Many existed before the 2010's but in the 2010's they proliferated like crazy and by the end of the decade many were their brands top selling models.
