Why is she so messy?

Actually, I see you do say “not enough.” I misread. Sorry!

Hmmm...interesting that is is tied to the movie. I feel like the movie characters were older than the characters in the tv spin off though. The movie characters seemed to be in their 30’s and already set in their careers.

Hi, Tonja! Just an FYI, but Yalitza Aparici was nominated for best actress. She is indigenous Mexican, so there is one person of color nominated in the lead acting category.

I found Ja to be really fascinating in both documentaries. It was clear he’s desperate to be a mogul like Jay and Puff; but, he doesn’t have the intelligence or creativity to actually do anything substantial or important.

I’m not watching the video, but judging from the picture he didn’t look white to me. He looked bi/multi-racial, but definitely not white.

I didn’t watch it, but I’m glad to hear it was well executed. Thanks for taking one for the team! lol ;-)

I suspect it’s because they knew what was going on and they feel guilty about it. According to her own parents, they were always with her, so if that’s the case, how could they not know?

ROTFL!!! Didn’t someone on the Black-ish colorism article anticipate Shipp was going show her foolishness on this subject again?

Don’t get me started! lol

I mean, I don’t disagree with you; but, my point still stands that colorism affects Black women significantly more (just like any other abuse which affects women more).

I agree 100%. I’m mildly interested in seeing if the discussion on Black-ish will be more of the same, as you pointed out.

Nah, I stand by my opinion. Thanks.

I’m going to be honest - I don’t trust any Black man to lead a discussion on colorism. Colorism in the Black community disproportionally affects Black women and especially so when it comes to mass media.

Thank you for the clarification and explaining how this all works.

I’m not sure, I just remember reading that a while ago. I don’t have any specifics, though it seems from this article that people from different organizations are all saying different things.

I remember reading a few years ago that NJ high schools sports were a mess because there are competing governing bodies and all of them claim to have authority or something. Maybe I can find a link somewhere, but I have a feeling this is one of the issues.  Racists from one governing body going against the other

When I first learned abou strict liability, I remember thinking that was way harsh for those who were legitimately duped. What I took from it was be very careful who you sleep with, basically.

So, a 19 year old wants to have consensual sex with someone of legal age. The other person shows ID that (s)he’s 18, even though (s)he is underage. They have sex, then the 19 year old can be arrested for statutory rape.

I mean, that’s true for any trial. Jurors can always nullify. But, the court would instruct the jury how to apply the law. There’s no way the judge wouldn’t tell them that ignorance of age isn’t a defense. Hopefully, other jurors would have some sense and at least hang the jury if someone was intent on willfully
