I wasn’t trying to negate the point, just offering some clarification. Particularly as there could be a future where this vault is never named after Simone. For example, if they cancel the Olympics (which may happen), and Simone decides to forgo 2021 Worlds and just retire, this vault will not be named after her.

Just a clarification - Yurchenko is a woman, not a man. And Yurchenko never did this vault. Natalia Yurchenko was the first woman to do a round off, back handspring entry on to the vault. She never performed a double pike after the back handspring entry. Simone is the first woman to do so.

This vault is not yet named after Simone. She must complete the vault in international competition (and be the first to do so) before it can be named after her.

I mean, I pretty much have lost faith in all humanity. Soooo...lol

Just here to give this article two snaps and read the comments. I don’t have anything more to say than what you’ve already stated. And also, I’ve long since given up on a lot of Black men (and some Black women).

Maiysha, I was already able to purchase everything I wanted from Drip2 from the Adidas app. I got an email telling me I could order at 4pm, but then saw on Twitter people were able to order on the app early. I logged into the app and was able to order.

I’m still trying to figure out how Slave Play is something that should be celebrated. I’ve yet to be convinced.

You’re right. I shouldn’t assume most celebs are stupid. That being said, I think we (the general “we”) tend to give celebs much more credit than they deserve just because they are famous. So many of them are just idiots.

Honestly, Rashaad contributed to ruining the Cosby legacy with her initial comments. Maybe just don’t say anything when it doesn’t involve you? She could’ve even commented that despite anything else that’s going on, it’s very important to remember the show’s (not Bill Cosby’s) place in history.

I wish I could have gone to an HBCU. The issue with many HBCUs, and especially the very good ones, is money. While wealthy Black kids have no problem attending HBCUs, poor Black kids like myself just don’t/didn’t have the option.

Who would come for Zendaya? She’s harmless and conscious of her privilege unlike many others. Besides her talent, I appreciate her acknowledgment of how Hollywood really works the most.

I remember I had little tears of joy when I first watched this video a few years ago. Early this morning I watched it and just cried.

I was numb last night when I heard the news, but this morning I’ve just been a puddle of tears. The strength of this man to do what he did the last few years of his life to represent and inspire Black people and children, especially. In his actions, he truly was here rooting for all the Black people.

I wouldn’t be surprised.  They asked me what I thought my house was worth and I gave them the Zillow estimate. They probably did the same.

This is why I don’t answer the demographic questions when buying/refinancing. I didn’t answer the question when I bought my house, although my broker or someone else at the bank checked off “white” for me (I am a Black woman, but they assumed I was white). At one point I actually crossed out white and on a subsequent

I’ve commented in years past about how most roles for Black women in entertainment are light skinned or biracial. When you point that out even here at The Root, most people will gaslight you and claim you are attacking biracial people or light skinned people. Just like when this issue is discussed face to face, Black

Kaluyya’s accent in this is terrible. I heard it immediately and it didn’t stop throughout the entirety of the trailer. It was horrific. I mean, forget Chicago, I’ve never heard any American, Black or otherwise, speak with that accent or tempo/cadence of voice.

When I see there’s a year where we get multiple Black sci-fi, mystery, adventure, etc. films in a year, I’ll think about paying to see a film about slavery or the inner city or civil rights again. Until that time, I’m not watching anything about Black pain again.

I really prefer this remote ceremony. I think it gave the artists more creative freedom and made the show more entertaining to watch.

Dang, I love Force MDs and I love this song. You gotta take it back to “Itchin’ for a Scratch” to see some real gold, though.
