I wore this album out for like a decade. I can’t even pick a favorite song. I love them all.

Listen up folks, you’re getting distracted by Kelly’s lawyer and the pedo defender in the comments. Greenberg potentially screwed his client big time with this interview.

Thank you! I just posted that stat rape is a strict liability crime. An adult’s knowledge of the victim’s age doesn’t matter. All that matters is if you engage in sexual activities with a minor. If you did, you’re guilty.

You are wrong. Statutory rape is a strict liability crime. That means it doesn’t matter whether the adult knew the age of the victim or not. All that matters is whether sexual activities happened with a minor. Knowledge of age can be taken into consideration during sentencing.

“R. Kelly and I have sometimes very untrue things written about us, so in a way this was a bond between us. That we were able to say, the public, they can have our bodies, but they cannot have our mind or our heart. It was a really natural collaboration.” - Lady Gaga, 2013 Japanese Press Conference

I didn’t have a problem with the eventual joke. I thought the last bit was funny and on point.

He was a young Asian boy, not man, that Dahmer brutalized and killed with permission from the police. Even worse was that Dahmer had raped the victim’s brother before the victim’s murder.

Thank you. I guess I’m surprised other people, particularly Black people, are unfamiliar with the fact that our society has a history of victimizing and ignoring Black women and girls. As Malcom X stated, Black women are the most disrespected people in America. I read Chance’s original statement to be in line with

Green Book is a mess. Granted I’m sick of all the Star is Born hype, but I’d rather see it win over Green Book which is just an insulting movie on multiple levels.

People replying to you are willful. They know Kelly’s songs saying “My mind’s telling me no, but my body, my body is telling me yesssss” and “Age ain’t nothing but a number, being down ain’t nothing but a thang” are all about adults having sex with children. But, they don’t care because they don’t think Black girls

Wow. It’s amazing how our brain messes with what we see during a traumatic event.

Hmmm...maybe it’s the statement that his comment was “taken out of context” that’s sort of throwing me. If I’m understanding your point, it’s more like there is more context to his comment (as opposed to his words being taken out of context).

Wait, what? He literally stated he did not believe the women or discredited them because they are Black women and he was sensitive to the oppression of Black men not Black women. That is actually something to apologize for which he did.

I’m not sure about that. Most of the furloughed feds are not in DC. They mostly live in Maryland, Virginia, or other states. Still, the vast majority are actually left leaning Dems which is actually why Trump doesn’t care. Trump will never win Maryland and not likely to win Virginia. So Snoop’s comments are sort of

As a Black woman, I am confused by the “controversy” and attempted explanation of Chance’s statement. I read his statement initially to mean that he didn’t believe or consider the victims because they are Black women. The oppression and abuse of Black women is often ignored or downplayed by all people in American

Faulty eyewitness testimony doesn’t have to be ambiguous or uncertain. A person can be certain they saw Person A when shots rang out and think that person is the suspect, when really it was Person B who was behind the eyewitness who was the actual shooter. Faulty doesn’t just mean unsure. It can also mean plain wrong.

Why would the writer reference the Root when The Root’s own coverage regarding Questlove’s statement is incomplete in at least one of those sources? The fact is Quest took his statement back. If you take it back, then there isn’t a need to report on it. It wasn’t true in the first place.

Faulty eyewitness information. Happens all the time. See the DC Sniper case when everyone was looking for a white van due to information from eyewitnesses. The killers were actually driving a blue Chevy Caprice.

But, Questlove himself deleted his explanation of why he refused to participate after he was challenged on it by the doc’s producer. How can you report on Quest’s explanation after he himself took it back when challenged?

Ummmm, this was the apology he issued when he stepped down from the Oscars. The whole point of him initially not apologizing was that he “apologized before.” So, the OP’s point stands. If he’s going to claim he’s being attacked when he apologized prior to this fiasco, where was that apology? If he could’ve backed up
