Or maybe it’s just Americans are suckers for the word ‘Sale’.  Remember JC Penney announced they were getting out of the sale game and lowering regular prices.  They had to go back because sales dropped.

I’ll give him a 7.0.  Could have been a 9.0 if there wasn’t as much splash on entry.

Prius or Corolla?

Many insurance companies are requiring older panels to be upgraded because many are now considered fire hazards.  In the 40s build house I bought about 3 years ago the sellers upgraded the panel because the realtor told them it would have to be done for anyone to buy the house.

The big scrappers are in India, near their destination of Sri Lanka.  So they might as well finish their journey.  Also, modern container ships rely on shore based cranes now, they aren’t like the cargo ships of yore where they have onboard cranes.

When I was in school for a Annular eclipse in the 80s that was passing over NC they bussed nearly every kid in NC into the path of annularity so we could see it.

Just a note, even in the areas with a partial eclipse the shadows will do strange things.

The different part is all the other cars stopped and the pedestrians in the road all looking at the sky.

Based on my last experience, you’re going to be stopped whether you like it or not at the moment of totality, so just accept it.

Eclipse sky is very different from regular night. If you’re thinking it just a short nighttime in the middle of the day, you may suddenly realize something special is going on, and feel the need to stop what you’re doing and be one with the universe.

I bought one of these in the 90s to use as a delivery car. 200k, but the interior and exterior still looked like new, paid around $600 for it. It was even a 5 speed with AC. But no, this car is definite ND. The car is bog slow, even with a 5 speed. An automatic, good God, you’ll be in the way of everyone on the road.

If you’re in the path of totality - prepare for the world to stop when it goes total. For instance, many restaurants had signs that there were going to close for about 15 minutes around the time to totality so their employees could watch. I think this is good, btw, for most it’s a once in a lifetime experience.

Or you could reverse that and say they are losing .1 cent per gallon because advertising it that way ends up in more sales.

On my Ram truck, Hemi engine, I normally use regular, and put in 89 if I’m going to tow a heavy load. I don’t even notice the difference in performance between the two when it isn’t loaded. I mean, the difference is what 392HP vs 395HP?

I was watching FoxNews when the president came out for a brief statement at 12:45 (CNN had stopped coverage, that’s why I switched to Fox.)  He made his statement, took a question or two, and then someone asked him about something in Gaza, which clearly wasn’t in the purview of this statement.  The Fox news anchors

2 reasons - it creates a glare on the inside of the windshield, and your eyes adjust to the brighter light inside the car, making it harder to see outside the car, particularly with the dim headlight of yore.

The same would be true at any closed space, like an office, classroom or movie theater.  I was just pointing out that it’s no worse than many other places people go.

Back in the late 70s/early 80s a lot of vehicle would start to knock on regular as they got up in miles. Frequently using midgrade would stop the knocking.

So about 40% of air inside a plane is recirculated through HEPA filters, and the other 60% is continually refreshed from outside. As a result of this is completely changed 30 to 60 times an hour (so every minute or 2.)  So you’re not continually breathing the same circulated air.

In the US? I’ll answer my own question - OK I guess in some states you can. That being said, while that’s going 25 is your kid going to be safe from someone who plows into it while going 55 in a 35 (the max speed limit road this vehicle can travel on)?
