A ban on abortion at 20 weeks is what prompted this whole post. The author (and other posters) are furious that a line has been drawn at 20 weeks. Yet, at about 25 weeks, the fetus/zygote/clump of cells can live (with lots of help from modern medicine).
I think your question is interesting. I'm a Pro Choicer, but I find many of these threads to be so disturbing. I think it's the "clump of cells" language that I find so off-putting.
I live in GR too. I just looked online: Nothing in the Press, on WOOD, Fox or WZZM. Shameful.
Google Muriel Ryan. She was a designer from Miami in the 50s and 60s. Her dresses were amazing. I spent some time researching her, but I couldn't find much. She designed for a company called Serbin, which is no longer is business. Vintage Ryan frocks fetch $300+ on Etsy and Ebay. Great finds!
Great post! Hats off to Ms. Hatcher-Mays!
She forecasted angry, and instead she got smug. Who are you, Regina George?
Yep! That one is my favorite. :)
You're right. I should have clarified. In order to avoid pregnancy (and shame), I used contraception. I took the pill because it had the best rates for effectiveness.
I'd like to clarify that people who WANT assistance are different from people who NEED assistance.
I don't see anything wrong with a little shame. When I was 16, I would have felt shame going to school with a big pregnant belly. My parents would have felt shame too, and that would have made me feel bad. Shame is one of the many reasons that kept me from getting pregnant when I was having sex in high school. I…
Your comment scared the heck out of me. Yes, I am one of those people who is living off credit cards and thinking that the money situation is only temporary. I was raised middle class, so I just thought I would be able to raise my own family in a middle class neighborhood with middle class things like vacations,…
It's funny. I know a number of people of means who have held or attended "white trash" parties. White people go and dress up like "white trash." The food is even goofy: beef jerky, twinkies, etc. I always thought that was sooo f-ing crazy.
Thank you!
I'm nearing 40. I never used it. I don't know anyone who has either; it just wasn't around when I was in college. The 11% seems right. I'm sure many women who are 10-20 years younger than me have used it. Women 40 and up, the numbers might be low.
I'll come out of the closet. I love this movie. I LOVE it with all caps.
I'm not in favor of this legislation, but let's not get careless lest our arguments will fall on deaf ears (they may already).
Nope! Not gross. By 10 weeks or so, it's easy to see hands, toes, fingers. That little one is flipping all over the place. It's not gross.
We can angry, but let's be correct. I've had four trans-vag ultrasounds, and yes, at as early as 5 weeks, we could easily hear a heartbeat. At 5 weeks, many girls aren't even aware that they are pregnant yet. So by 7 or 8 weeks, there is no doubt that the heartbeat will be strong and clearly audible.
