Kitcars can be fun. I’d be happy to rock a late 50s Scarab/Maserati450 kind of fun.

If anything he should be writing more, not less. He’s an incredible writer. If he were to start writing books I would sign up in perpetuity to buy them. (Sorry, I think he’s really undervalued on Jalopnik and was waiting for an opportunity to point it out).

What? His intros are perfect and I will not hear a word of disagreement. Like most of his audience, I need something substantial to read during my morning constitutional.

I totally missed this the first time around. But the Powerpuff Girls livery is totally the best.

YES! And The Hire is my favourite of all of them. I understand that the BMW films were Luc Besson’s inspiration for The Transporter.

Photo captioned “Mazdas being made in Mexico” is not of Mexican plant — I’ve see this picture before and I think it was identified as being taken in Mazda’s Hofu plant.

I’d give this an 8/10 on the troll scale. The subtlety gets high marks from me.

Wow that is colossally ugly.

Beginning with a quality preowned 959

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. BMW’s 2 liter turbo in the 328 (that was released 6 years ago) makes peak torque (255lb-ft) at 1250RPM. That peak torque stays flat until around 5000RPM. It’s a powerband that you couldn’t dream of 30 years ago. 8 gear ratios in an incredibly smart transmission make

You clearly never drove a BMW with the ZF 8HP

Rob Emslie doesn’t know everything; it is actually a belt.

1st Gear: 86 the 87?

You mean like cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic braking?

This is a great explanation of something that doesn’t matter the vast majority of the time.

Hum, late 70 boring domestic car, handles like a pig, brakes like a pig, corners like a pig, starts like a pig, accelerates like a pig, safe as an angry pig, all said and done, you would be much better off spending $4,500 on pulled pork sandwiches. CP all day!

Are they designing the braking system for track days? In typical stop and go, those brakes barely get used, because regen is maximized.

Yes. It’s for style, they didn’t want to sell a frumpy leaf or bolt, it’s a TESLA. Wheel manufacturing techniques have improved a lot in the last 10 years though, it’s possible their 19s are only a few lbs heavier than some 17s would be.

True but if it’s a hybrid or electric you are using the regenerative braking a lot so there is normally less heat going into the brakes
