I just bought a used Nissan Leaf to tie me over till the 3 comes out. For ten grand I get to dip my toe in the electric car world. Toss it in the trash in three to four years. I'm out less than the depreciation of a (insert practical hatch here)

Funny how no one has mentioned Nissan’s half-assed approach of letting the dealers install the DC quick chargers. The one near me is free, charges my Leaf at near-Tesla supercharger rates (Teslas can use them with an adapter) and did I mention it is free?
Hope this shames BMW to drop halogen reflectors on their base models.
I just picked up a used Nissan Leaf. If the ownership and driving a three year old economy hatch is this awesome, I can’t imagine owing a Tesla. The Nissan is awesome for what it is. And it is actually a fun, albeit different driving experience.
I just swapped my 2007 BMW 335i for a 2013 Nissan Leaf. (Nearly an even trade) Just try to tell me I haven’t made the best decision ever. The list of things that had the potential to break on that BMW that do not even EXIST on the Leaf is longer than my Bentley repair manual.
Agreed. Now buy mine (it's one of the good ones):
No mention of the 330e? I’m interested in how this marries the instant torque of the electric motor to that fine 8 speed auto. Could this be the ultimate city car that can actually be fun to drive up in the twisties on the weekends?
I did some contract work at Aberdeen Proving Grounds with some data acquisition systems mostly testing Chinook components under stress. By “under stress” I mean the 50 caliber type of stress. Months of planning and development and I never even got to see the actual test. Awesome plane graveyard right by the windowless…
I’m about to buy a leaf and have been researching the internet connectivity.
While in dreaming, I’d like to cross shop this with an Acura TLX wagon.
I'll raise you one and ask for an Acura TLX wagon. Does that Honda have the dreaded CVT? Props to Acura for putting a true DCT in the Acuras.
I kid! And you are preaching to the choir about CPO’d Bimmers. Best deal in town and luckily I never had to use it on my ‘07 335i that I bought CPO’ in ‘09 (yikes has it been that long) since the ‘emissions’ extension warranty covered the new turbos and the fuel pump warranty covered the three HPFP replacements.
The other downside is that there is a chance that I hooned the bejesus out of it. (okay, I still can’t bring myself to hoon a cold engine)
OH DEAR THE OPTIONS.
I have seen some early cars with the later three spoke steering wheel and it makes a huge difference in the look. I take it that it was an option (one of a dizzying array available on the 996, and on any Porsche for that matter)
Doug, you are killing me with the 996 talk. I’ve got feelers out on from Atlanta to NJ for a decent, simple 6 speed coupe.

Spent many an hour riding, driving and autocrossing a good friend’s 89 Si with the 4 wheel steering. It would change directions faster than anything of driven since. I almost put it into the side of a car ferry at 3 mph. Yes at parking speed that thing would swing its hips out in a very strange way. I just drove a TLX…
I know the well well.
