No, Captiva is GM Theta platform which is actually a size above. In Premium Theta it underpins the SRX and defunct Saab 9-4X.

Honestly, this is one of the reasons I'm seriously considering moving away from auto/transport design. If you want to work ridiculously long hours and have no one actually appreciate your efforts then by all means, delude yourself into becoming a car/transportation designer.
Ugh. FACEPALM.
Well yea, that's kinda the whole point no? If diesels were no more efficient than gasoline-fed cars, why would anyone bother? I know I wouldn't.
Once you've had the D nothing else is quite the same.
I'm not sure which diesel models you are referencing that are more maintenance intensive, but not all engines are created equal so I'd be interested in your experience.

Oh yes, definitely an asset with value. But there's an important distinction between an asset and an investment. I don't think its merely semantic either.
Yea seriously. How can one simply throw out maintenance and repair??? Warranties are the predominant reason rational people choose new. Even a Corolla out of warranty will exact costs that have to be considered.
Also, your lede is misleading (haha.)
Leasing is a horrible idea for most consumers, as it's an investment that's 100 percent liability.
I used to watch these land and takeoff from Rio de Janeiro–Galeão International Airport when I was a kid, streaming out over the Atlantic and sometimes past Corcovado (Christ the Redeemer statue over Rio.) So fucking epic.
