I once worked at a truck dealership as a mechanic - my Ford was across town at the dealer for service and I went by late in the afternoon to pick it up...while still wearing the obligatory blue shirt and pants with the day's grime in place.

So in this case, the best dealer experience is a non-dealer experience.

I went in a for an oil change and left with all the money I had in my pocket minus the cost of the oil change. I was floored.

I once went to a dealership on a Sunday when they were closed and there weren't any salespeople around. That was a pretty great experience.
