In Texas, we had an additional $2500 rebate on top of the federal, so it literally wouldn’t make sense to buy a gas one.

I guess in terms of verbiage, rebate and credit can mean the same.  I know it’s not a deduction - and also, if your total tax liability is less than $7500, you don’t get money back so to speak.  If you only owe $5000 at the end of the year, you don’t get a $2500 check in the mail.

For Pacifica guy - consider a) getting a Hybrid, and b) waiting till the 2020s come out to either i) buy a newer model or ii) get a discounted 2019.  The hybrid is PHEV and depending on where you live, can save you a lot in electric cost vs. gas (probably not in MA though.)  Also, the $7500 tax rebate (not credit,…
