Hi. I grew up in a tourist city, and I’ve worked as a guide in various places around the world. I know how to be a good visitor.
Um, no. We pay hostel fees, eat at restaurants and food vendors, buy groceries from independent vendors, buy from local artists... We also try to make sure we volunteer somehow if we’re going to be in a place for a bit. We’ve volunteered at museums, parks, hospitals in developing nations, an aquatic agriculture…
Cruise ship tourists suck ass. They don’t stay in hotels, they don’t eat in restaurants, and they buy a few meagre trinkets. In exchange they take up space, treat locals like garbage, and act like decidedly-entitled pricks. Cruise ship tourists contribute very little to local economies.

He’s not touching the sterile end of the swab, not touching the containment vessel interior, not touching the agar on the plate, and not touching the water. No need for gloves.
We bought ours partially on the recommendations from three friends with 8 to 10-year-old models. They’ve been really happy and they report very few issues. I have heard that the CVT can be shitty over time, but none of our friends have had issues.
Yeah, it’s mind-boggling.
