Housing is so different there. And 120 probably doesn't buy you as much house there.

Really? I find PayPal awful to use. Between the long time it takes to transfer, the costs, etc., it's actually easier sometimes to just go to a bank.

More than $10-$20? Sure. Otherwise, one's just being cheap.

There's something to be said for self-reliance, especially for small jobs. Furthermore, learning basic DIY fix-it stuff is good practice for owning one day. And other than pride, it's often much faster to do it yourself too.

Follow-up question: what in the hell are you doing in Elko, NV?

Awful video, I agree, but worth noting Petchesky went to Temple.

Good insight. Hooray for statistics!

A video technician. Sounds on the younger side.

All of the CS-50 material is available on the CS-50 website Alan mentioned, as well as on iTunes U. You're right, the Ed-X course doesn't start until January — and until then, you won't have the shared experience of taking CS-50 with 150k people worldwide — but you can certainly self-study/take-it beginning today (or

Many Coursera and Ed-X courses do as they're often university-sponsored. Nonetheless, despite the Stanford/whatever imprimatur, it's still just a "Certificate of Completion," whose value from an employer's standpoint doesn't go much farther than "ok, he's not lying about having taken that MOOC."

Indeed, if a class for Java/programming for Android was featured, I'm not sure why a good Objective-C one wasn't mentioned, especially when Stanford's is so popular on iTunes U right now.

Way too cluttered for my taste.

It's kind of poetic how the eagle represents the general IQ level at ORU.

Unrelated, but: I really miss this kinja layout.

I'd imagine that if I were to go to an authentically Japanese sushi restaurant (being in LA, I'm fortunate to have that option), eating with my hands would be proper. However, is this also acceptable at high-end, semi-Americanized (though the chefs are still Japanese) sushi restaurants (i.e. Nobu, Katsuya, Matsu,

The amount of sweat has nothing to do with calories burned, only temperature regulation.

I would add: delay the coffee (or whatever your preferred method of caffeine delivery is) until you get to the office. It's a thermogenic agent, and the difference in how much I sweat with and without caffeine in my system is quite noticeable.

Nah, I understand the want/use of a mail client for heavy email or business usage. And while I thought setting up mailvelope for browser-based email was easy, I'll concede that I had a bit more difficult of a time setting it up for Thunderbird, and that sucks.

Mailvelope is a browser extension for Google Chrome.

Not really, because while you're expensing it, if you're a sales-oriented business, it's ultimately getting billed back to the client (and you never want to bill the client for the Four Seasons unless you're a corporate lawyer/banker).
