That is so odd. I recently cropped him from a collection of Animal Crossing faces, and he was wearing an MVP shirt, not a #6. I think the MVP shirt is his true default. (I also think there are 2 default outfits per character - one for summer and one for winter). Perhaps Villager #1 demoted him to 6. :/
