Took me a few minutes to figure out what “lane based” refers to. Dragon’s Crown isn’t lane based - you can walk wherever. It’s got decent flexibility too. I finished the main story and set it down when I realized I’d have to learn advanced techniques with my chosen character (the Elf) to keep up in co-op play.

What excellent timing, I just picked up a Switch last night.

That was smart of you, figuring out what the crash meant for in-store preorders.

Target put them up for preorder a little while ago. I missed it because I was taking a nap. This is utter nonsense.

Pararapa the Rapper... that’s an interesting reference point. I watched a stream of someone playing it, and it seems to be about enjoying yourself and vaguely keeping to the rhythm. That’s in sharp contrast to every other rhythm game I’ve played or seen- hard, fast, and punishing you for mistimed button presses.

I hope they fix the gameplay mechanics. Having the notes go from the center to the corner/edges of the screen makes me go cross-eyed. It’s the opposite of how all the other rhythm games I’ve played work - out-to-in.

It is very much an Etrian Odyssey game with a Persona skin. There are skits to watch and I enjoyed the characters (though because there are so many crammed in, they are largely treated as one-note characters), but yeah, the core gameplay is EO-style dungeon crawling.

Simple, but I may run out of retailers eventually. Got doubly screwed by Best Buy, once by their crummy website.

Hope yours is working out for you. I find mine runs slower and slower the more music I put on it. The clickwheel is slow to respond, and I often skip past music or turn the volume way up/down because I’m not sure if it’s read the input. It’s like the designer didn’t expect people to fill it up (got a mere 30 gig on

Shit, so the rumors were true. Gotta start all over now.

Preordered from Walmart Friday night, didn’t get a cancellation notice. I wonder if that’s just a rumor that spun out of control. On the other hand, the release date is 2 months out, so it could indeed be an accident. I called my local Walmart, and they said they wouldn’t know, they just receive whatever get shipped,

Culdcept Revolt was delayed to October.

Assholes are still quoting his manifesto, where he uses the word “scrub” a zillion times, to this day. I was floored when I learned he was actually in the game industry - wouldn’t go near his games if you paid me.

Asking little kids for money? That’s what I find awkward.

RIP Advance Wars. I’m on the verge of breaking down and replaying the older games.

No usable items like potions - only held items (some of which heal). You can switch out at any time, though you’re limited to the ones you chose at the start of the match. In doubles play, you start with a team of six, and pick four for the game. I believe in a best of three, you can repick your four in between games.

Yet another thing from Nintendo I won’t be able to get.

Damn, I would’ve liked that. Someone else would probably have to go, though; the party size is large enough as is and the elements are covered pretty well.

In my experience, I find P5 to be way less dickish about negotiation. It helps that enemies can wind up in a terrified state, which makes them give in easily.

Huh. I always believed the shutdown was due to the usual reasons that companies drop their forums (moving to Facebook in order to dump the maintenance costs/hassle onto someone else). I wasn’t checking forums when the blowup happened.
