Reasonable take for a movie that should not be taken seriously.

Is Dom’s Picksburgh Yinzer accent too much for you?

I think I am picking up on an anti- “big school” bias here...

So, John Oliver was totally right about Daryl Morey trading away Marquese Chriss?

Yeah I agree that Snyder is intentionally humorless to the point it’s unintentionally hysterically funny.

Holy shit that was a good post!

Thank God we fired the German guy who won as a player and a coach and actually wanted the USMNT job...

I saw it opening weekend too, after reading the book. I left the theater wondering what the fuck that was supposed to be...I rewatched it last week for the first time after having this argument with someone else recently and TRIED to frame it in my mind as a satire but it just doesn’t hold up. It’s ridiculous, it’s

Shut the fuck up, racist troll.

So tough! So edgy! So brave to use an anonymous handle from the safety of your keyboard!

Um, you kicked him out of your bar, you didn’t imprison him. That’s not abridging free speech.

300 was great, Suckerpunch was like “how could you fuck up a film this beautiful?” Everything since gets worse and worse.

I don’t agree. I think Verhoeven is Dutch Zach Snyder, a hack who thinks he’s deep and every once in a while is entertaining (Robocop and 300 respectively) about as often as broken clock has the right time.

I’ll take Robocop, leave the rest. Aren’t opinions great? No wrong answers!

Where the fuck did I say I identify with fascists? You must have me confused with someone else.

Watchmen is rated as it is because you can give it to anyone and they can read it without needing to connect it to anything else.

Yeah that’s cool, go with the ad hominem attack because your favorite graphic novel is overrated.

I literally already said other places Robocop’s satire works, ST’s fails and appears to be earnestly unintentional. ST is not satire, it’s just dumb.

I have said elsewhere in this thread yes Robocop (same writer and director) IS a satire. ST fails at it to the point any perceived satire is likely unintentional. Verhoeven lies about the intent behind ST a la Tommy Wiseau trying to convince you the Room was a black comedy...
