It also lead to the fantastic Macross Plus: The Movie (and/or the mini-episodes that got cut into said movie), which continued the idea of love being messy into a new triangle that dealt with the consequences of abuse in a way that was never mentioned with Lin Kyle.

Don't worry Android gamers, at least we can still bounce circles around at one another in the Arena of War game that supposedly relates to D&D.

Oh, come on. Robotech needs to be taken in the context in which it was presented. As the first space opera many of us ever experienced, this was some heavy drama. More than just the Cobra-threat-of-the-week that GI Joe gave us, Robotech offered an ongoing story with actual consequences for actions. It also

DS9 was way better.

No character development, and the story arcs are all rehashes from previous seasons. Plus too many of the characters switch allegiance.

Also He-Man & She-Ra. My wife just got a DVD set of She-Ra season 1, and we could barely make it through 1 episode.

The first season also didn't always match the corresponding "between episodes" comic (which was a great idea, had it been executed properly). Course then the second season and onward outright negated stuff they'd established in the comic.

Ravenwood is just the Baywatch Nights of this TV generation.

I hope the episode "Countrycide" from Torchwood season 1 makes it on there. Scary not because of aliens or awful monsters, but in that moment when the guy leans in to whisper to Gwen why he did it. Still gives me the chills.

- Give him an internal monologue so we understand his choices (a la Dexter). Though Dex also ended up caring for people, killed guys much worse than him, and had his own lines that he (mostly) didn't cross.

Too bad Torchwood didn't dodge all the bullets thrown around in the horrid STARZ-supported "Miracle Day", which effectively killed that spin-off and Captain Jack. Giant alien vaginas on either side of the earth? Sure, why not?

Yeah, the demon who speaks with a delay because it uses the voices of people in hell who are screaming its responses... it doesn't get grittier than that.

Isn't it obvious that marriage & heroes can't mix anywhere in geek culture? That's why The Mummy Returns did so poorly at the box office. That's why The Incredibles didn't resonate at all with kids. That's why Kingdom Come was so unsatisfying in its ending. That's why no one paid attention or felt bad with what

Chongo Longo... we totally need this!

What was worse was how they tried to cram so much into the last 3 episodes after they found out it was cancelled.

Also, if you're going to get nit-picky about details, don't use an apostrophe when saying "again io9 insults it's paleontologist readers..." Bad grammar detracts from any other intelligent thing you might try to say.

I loved how casual they were about introducing a mixed race couple at the time, too (Roy & Claudia). It was great to see, and nobody ever mentioned that it might be out of the ordinary. They made a bigger deal about Max & Miria, but there were lots of ideas about tolerance in Robotech that were way ahead of the

While it totally messed with the continuity of Southern Cross & the Invid saga (I think later they called it an "alternate universe sequel"), I also really enjoyed Macross Plus: The Movie (which was originally a mini-series), which takes place 30 years after the end of the first robotech series, and tells a powerful

Don't forget that "hacking" across multiple screens simultaneously makes you cooler. Oh, and also hacking = box moving.

At the time, Macs could only interface with something like 27% of the computers on THIS planet. That was totally where the movie jumped the shark for me.
