Yeah but in the case of Bayonetta, the story matters insofar as it should be as mind-numbingly non-understandable (almost dadaistic) to be enjoyable.

Because it's the last game in the prequel trilogy (seeing as Emmy isn't there in the first game, The Curious Village, which plays after the Azran Legacy). I don't know the reason though (I'm still on the Miracle Mask, and I got Zelda: ALBW instead of the Azran Legacy in December when it was out in Europe).

As far as I know (at least from example in Taiwan, where this bit about never leaving before your boss is also the same), when you wait for your boss to leave, you don't necessarily "work" per se... you may also just waste time.
