Have you been around a baby who is just a few weeks old? You don't just "park them" at a colleague's house. They are way way too little and fragile. There's a reason daycares don't take them.

Because the appropriate way to address any group is with "people first" language. "Colored people" implies that the most important thing about them is their color, not their humanity. Goes the same for almost all groups: "people with disabilities," not "disabled people," etc.
