I'm saying it's 10 feet. I downloaded the video, slowed it to 0.5x speed (and subsequently doubled times to get true length of time) and although crude, I timed two phases with a wristwatch five times each: time for the ball to reach it's maximum height and then drop to the floor (T1) and time for the ball to reach

Now this... this is the best evidence ever that the world has changed. Growing up, if one of my teachers had threatened to spoil the details of a series of fantasy novels, 90% of the class wouldn't have cared at all. Most of the troublemakers would have been jocks and others who barely read, let alone read a "nerdy"

Denethor might have fit in ok, and Turin Turambar would have a good chance of surviving a few books before dying tragically. And if we count Smaug as a somebody...well just think of all the damage an intelligent/talking dragon could do in Westeros.

"So cool to be here! The (insert team name here) are my favourite (insert sport here) team!"

"No, it's not."

Thousands of years from now someone somewhere will say, "I wish I had been born when they first were discovering this all. How excited they must have been."

Name: Wall-E (2008)

I still like this one better.

This is why the space program needs to be better funded. While we fight over land, religion, and any other stupid reason we humans come up with to fight and spend Billions on weapons, all we need is one asteroid or comet strike to wipe everything out and millions of years from now whatever replaces humans will dig up

At my old school, we never fought over who had the best spaceship . . ..

If lions or bears had died out long ago I wonder if modern folks would have said the same thing.

...not all man holes are always covered

It will be interesting to see if this has an effect on narrative—over-compensating for a city's lack of atmosphere based on its current lighting technology, for example, by ramping up plot, framing, or characterization. Probably not—but a fun thought experiment.

Blessed are they who did not see Tebow play, and yet believe.

This looks like it's come straight out of The Fifth Element or Halo. If it actually this built, I'll well and truly be satisfied that we're living in the 'future'.

The Mannings are clearly the Lannisters. Archie as Tywin is too perfect.

+1 nerd

He makes a good point.
