Yes this, same thing happened with James Cameron.

Actually he’s sheer genius at some things, probably no one is better, but like most people every strength has an accompanying weakness and he needed to surround himself with the sorts and types of people that can fill in the blanks.

The second movie is superb and the best of them all. (ESB)
