Jedi Survivor doesn’t have a black female protagonist. You play as Cal Kestis who is a redheaded white dude. Redfall and Shadow Gambit have multiple playable characters and only one of them is a black woman. Saga is one of two protagonists in AW2, the other being a white guy.

Also why did virtually every game dev in 2023 decide to make their main character a Black woman?

A lot of interesting stuff. Happy that they’re making another Sinking City. The first game was janky but had a charming weirdness. Apparently the sequel is more survival horror, less detective work, which is disappointing. Frogwares isn’t exactly known for good combat. I’m hoping they accept a Game Pass deal so

Erm, this is also true for white heterosexual characters. For example, RE5 takes place in Africa but its main protagonist is white. Therefore, Capcom needed to provide a narrative justification for a white dude shooting a bunch of black people.

I’m not sure quality determines port priorities. Days Gone, a game widely considered to be one of the worst PS exclusives, was the second game Sony ported to PC. The Ratchet & Clank remake came out in 2016, three years before Days Gone, so there was ample time for them to port it and get PC gamers familiarized with

Hogwarts Legacy’s success isn’t standard for WB Games. Their previous game, Gotham Knights, was a flop. Mad Max was a flop. Shadow of War sold below expectations.

Unfortunately, Hogwarts is an exception, not the rule. For every Hogwarts, you have maybe 5 Suicide Squads.

Haven’t played FF14 myself so I was just speaking to MMOs in general. The fundamental issue with MMOs is that there’s no illusion that your actions actually matter. You see other players running around doing the exact same quests you’re doing. It ends up feeling like a theme park rather than a believable world. So

F2P definitely increases your chances of success, though most MMOs don’t launch as F2P and have an initial entry cost, in addition to multiple paid expansions that are basically mandatory. Paid subscriptions still exist too, though they’re usually optional these days.

Eh? MMOs don’t have very compelling stories nor do they focus solely on PvP. Same goes for successful live service games like Warframe, Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail, Lost Ark, Path of Exile, etc. I’d argue that Destiny 2’s story was only passable at best. Honestly, I don’t really remember anything about it. It was

Odd that they’d start with NMH3 instead of 1 & 2. Though, 1&2 were extremely half-assed ports that may not even exist on XSX, so that would explain it.

Nintendo likely went after Yuzu because it was the highest profile emulator. That profile was built on numerous articles declaring how the latest Switch games (including ToTK) looked and ran better on Yuzu. Yuzu was also featured in the official Steam Deck trailer. The fact that Tropic Haze was profiting from Yuzu

Yeah, and Sony has already ported several PS4 games to PC (HZD, Days Gone, GoW, Spider-Man, etc).

That’s pretty much what I do too, except I play my Switch games on my desktop PC because it provides vastly superior image quality and performance. The Switch hardware is hot garbage and struggles to run games at 1080p30.

Pretty sure the Nathan Drake Collection consisted of remasters, not emulated versions, of the PS3 games. They ran at 60 FPS, 4k, etc.

True, forgot about that one. That was probably the nail in the coffin.

So is this another case of Sony porting a sequel to PC but not the original? I’m fairly sure that was a big reason why Uncharted 4 didn’t sell that great on PC. Jumping into the final entry in a story-driven series with a persistent cast isn’t all that appealing.

I assume you’re referring to PC DRM which would have been irrelevant to console users. In 2013, the console market was still primarily physical and the XBO’s proposed DRM would have reduced the perceived benefits of physical media.

The attention drawn to Yuzu being able to run these games at launch better than the Switch could was likely a big factor in this, yes. Tropic Haze accepting money (or requiring it if you wanted day one access to the newest builds) was a big factor too.

To be fair, they likely would have settled regardless because they don’t have the money to fight Nintendo in court. Nintendo would have just dragged the case on until Tropic Haze ran out of money.
