Epic doesn’t really care about consumer choice or even the profitability of EGS. They’ve spent millions to keep games off of Steam, including buying Psyonix and Mediatonic and then pulling Rocket League and Fall Guys off of the Steam store. They’ve spent millions on timed exclusivity deals and even “co-exclusivity”

They recently announced that Squadron 42 is feature complete and released a lot of footage:

I’m pretty sure the Ultimate Edition includes all the DLC on both EGS and Steam. I own the UE on Steam and it has all the DLC. The store page also says that it includes all the DLC.

I don’t think that’s accurate given that Take Two owns the Max Payne IP.

I wouldn’t expect AW2 to ever show up on Steam. Same with Alan Wake Remastered. Both were published by Epic who has no interest in supporting Steam in any way.

Don’t sleep on Control. From a gameplay standpoint, it’s easily Remedy’s best game.

I don’t believe that every first-party Nintendo game sells well enough to justify the weak discounts. The major titles like Mario and Zelda? Sure. The less popular IPs like Bayonetta, Astral Chain, Luigi’s Mansion, etc? Not so much. Nintendo just has a hard rule about never discounting its games below $40 regardless

MS’s recent record with acquired studios has been pretty solid. Redfall would be the one exception but that started development long before Bethesda was acquired.

I’ll inevitably be lambasted for saying this but the world would be a better place if MS acquired Nintendo. Nintendo’s first-party games would no longer be chained to awful hardware and we might actually get some decent discounts on them too.

I’m pretty sure like 90% of the Switch’s library is also available on Steam so yeah, the Steam Deck is a competitor to the Switch.

I think Nintendo is pretty strict on discounts. For example, their first-party digital games never drop below $40 and I lowest I’ve ever seen a physical copy was $30. Doesn’t matter how old the game is or how poorly it sold, Nintendo will never sell it for less than $40.

I’ve always struggled with Yakuza. The pacing just seems terrible. You spend most of your time just running from point A to point B, then watching a long and usually uneventful cutscene of people talking. The gameplay-to-cutscene ratio just seems way off. I do enjoy the wackiness of the side quests but the sheer

My advice going into GotG is to treat it more like a party-based RPG than a shooter. Yes, your character has guns and you aim and shoot them but they’re more for finishing enemies off than anything else. The bulk of your damage comes from combos with the rest of the squad. Your team is your primary weapon, not your

I don’t think they were banking on modders to provide content. That’s why they added procedural planets and missions. They figured “hey, people played Skyrim for hundreds of hours so if we give them even more content, they’ll play for thousands!” However, like you said, players need to actually want to stay in the

I think the idea would be that people would have played most of the games throughout the year because they’re avid gamers and play a wide variety of genres. That’s the ideal qualification in order to be a judge for a game award show.

I’m talking about good discounts, not just discounts in general. On first-party storefronts like PSN, XBL, eShop, etc, developers/publishers have absolute control over pricing so the discounts tend to suck. Conversely, third-party retailers/resellers have much more leeway so they can offer much better discounts.

Surprising to see Kotaku cover an indie studio shutting down. It happens so often yet rarely seems to get any coverage. However, whenever a publisher shuts down a studio, an article inevitably pops up, followed by angry comments blaming consolidation for the studio’s failure.

Lack of physical media doesn’t mean that everything will become exclusive to streaming subscription services. Digital movie/TV show sales have been a thing for a long time.

This is going to suck real bad for console owners unless the platform owners allow keys to be distributed outside of their respective storefronts. Physical is the only way to get good deals on console games because retailers compete against each other for sales. When Playstation games become available only on PSN,

Ironically, piracy has done more for media preservation than anything else.
