Just finished the game last night and didn’t encounter any blockers. Performance could use some work, though. For some reason, Saga’s levels run like ass while Alan’s run like butter.

Legally? It probably would be fine for Apple to put the same restrictions on MacOS since it has such a tiny share of the PC market. As for Android, I think it actually has a larger global market share than iOS so no, it would probably get in trouble for doing that.

Given the specialized nature of gaming consoles and the fact they’re purely entertainment devices, I don’t think any judge would agree that they’re analogous to PC or mobile devices. There’s certainly no precedent for that. I think the judge in the Epic vs Apple case even specifically rejected that comparison.

EGS’ coupons have nothing to do with the revenue split and everything to do with Epic being willing to burn money for user acquisition. Epic loses a shit ton of money whenever they offer coupons and that’s not a sustainable practice unless your platform is carried by Fortnite and Unreal revenue. Just do the math. The

I’m just curious as to how much they actually rewrote. L4D2 released almost exactly one year after the first game so the actual dev cycle was probably around 12 months (preproduction likely started when the first game reached beta but the sequel’s release candidate(s) would need to be submitted for console

Interesting. I assume that only applies to the explicit killing of civilians? For example, in Godzilla games, it’s safe to assume that thousands of civilians are being killed based on the destruction of the cities you’re fighting in but they don’t explicitly show those deaths.

What? Both L4D games use the Source engine. It’s not like they switched engines for the sequel. It was very clearly built on top of the work (both code and assets) done for the first game.

You do realize that remasters and new original games have significantly different budgets, right? It’s not a choice between remaster or new AAA game because the AAA game will have at least 10x the budget of the remaster. It’s not like Naughty Dog had to make a choice between making a new AAA game and remastering

Sure, but you suggested that Witcher 3 was more of an RPG than Cyberpunk which seems pretty absurd to me. Cyberpunk objectively allows for more roleplaying than any of the Witcher games and it’s definitely more of an RPG than any Final Fantasy game.

That’s not a very good analogy. Windows has a monopoly in the PC operating system market and regulators would shut down anything that would strengthen that monopoly. That includes requiring all software be sold exclusively through the MS Store.

Why would they boot you? They make more money if they sell your games. Certification exists to make sure the game isn’t completely broken and supports standard PS functionality (trophies, cloud saves, etc). It’s basically Quality Control. It doesn’t mean that the game itself will be good, just that it won’t break your

That’s great if true, though it seems pretty limited compared to PC. For example, as far as I can tell, Sonic Frontiers is only available from XBL. On PC, you can buy it from like 15 different resellers. Seems like only the major stores (Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Gamestop, Target, etc) are provided with Xbox keys and

Certification isn’t specific to digital distribution. Console games need to pass certification regardless of whether they’re released physically or digitally. This lawsuit specifically pertains to Sony’s absolute control over digital distribution via PSN.

The other fundamental problem with the lawsuit is that it presumes that PSN is the only place to obtain the majority of games. That’s not the case at all. Like 99% of games are multiplatform so even if Sony controls all distribution on PSN, you can still buy the same third-party games on Xbox, PC and/or  Switch. The

Witcher 3 is a full on RPG..? That’s news to me. You play as a predefined character, there’s only one class (witcher) and your narrative agency is mostly limited to “nice Geralt” or “grumpy Geralt.” Don’t get me wrong, I love the Witcher games but I wouldn’t ever call them “full on RPGs.” Baldur’s Gate 3 is a full-on

I don’t think that the storage capacity of consoles is some underhanded attempt to discourage digital sales. Console makers love digital sales because they get a larger cut of each sale, the games they distribute have a potentially infinite shelf life and they have complete control over distribution. It’s much easier

It wouldn’t be that hard. Just allow developers/publishers to distribute keys outside of PSN/XBL/eShop without giving a cut to Sony/MS/Nintendo. Valve already does that with Steam keys. This allows devs/pubs to get 100% of the revenue while still having their product(s) hosted on the platforms.

They should have just dismissed the case and saved taxpayer money. There is no way Sony will lose this. All they have to do is point out the following facts:

A good strategy is to not buy anything you don’t intend to play immediately. Also, don’t buy anything until you finish at least one game you’ve already started.

As always, you’ll find the best deals outside of Steam. Check gg.deals or isthereanydeal.com before buying anything on Steam.
