Your lack of research was painfully apparent. Luckily, I enjoy debating and doing research. Thanks to you, I’ve gathered a ton of specific data proving that Avatar is a popular IP and can use that data in future debates. I’ve also learned that you’re terrible at debate and have no interest in facts or logic so I won’t

Ubi’s channel being the only one to host the video, so people aren’t watching it on IGN or other sources

Your ability to immediately dismiss any facts that undermine your argument would be impressive if it weren’t so depressing.

Except those titles wouldn’t even exist were it not for Embracer. Even if those IPs do end up back on the shelf, at least they were given a second chance.

For funsies, I checked the most popular videos on Ubisoft’s Youtube channel. The Avatar game reveal is currently #7 with 19m views. However, that video has only been out for 2 years whereas everything else in the top 8 has been out for at least 9 years. Food for thought.

Acquisitions weren’t the problem here. Over-expanding based on a $2b gamble that ultimately fell through was the problem.

So... are you going to answer my question? If the Avatar game is commercially successful, will that be sufficient proof that the Avatar IP is popular? Or is there no amount of evidence that would ever sway your opinion?

They were probably interested in the historical event/person, yes.

You are apparently the only person in existence who believes that critical and commercial success are not indications of an IP’s popularity.

Gameplay is what defines games as a medium. If 99% of a game’s gameplay is just walking around, I think it’s fair to call it a walking simulator.

Fair points. Maybe I’m just being paranoid and the absence of Hogwarts has nothing to do with its associated controversy and everything to do with its quality, despite the fact that it sold over 15 million copies and received better reviews than many of of the nominees across multiple categories.

Once again, I never claimed that Hogwarts should be nominated for GOTY. I said that I find it highly dubious that it wasn’t nominated for any awards across multiple categories when many other nominees received worse critical receptions (as measured by Metacritic, OpenCritic and Steam user reviews).

So because Suicide Squad features Batman as one of five main antagonists and Deadshot and Harley Quinn as playable characters, that makes it a direct sequel to Arkham Knight..? Deadshot wasn’t even in Arkham Knight and his cameos in the other games were minimal at best. Gotham Knights features Batman as a boss and

“Conspiracy theory.”

Personally? I haven’t played Hogwarts so I don’t what, if anything, it’s good at. The graphics look nice and the combat looks pretty fun from what I’ve seen. That said, I wouldn’t nominate Dead Island 2, Ghostrunner 2, Party Animals or Starfield for anything but they got nominated so my personal tastes aren’t really

BotW and TotK are not representative of most nominees, don’t be absurd. Look at the actual list of games that got nominated for various TGA awards. Dead Island 2, Lies of P, Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2, Ghostrunner 2, Party Animals, Venba, Cocoon, etc, were all nominated and nobody is going to be talking about any of tho

If you don’t consider critic and user reviews to be a reliable metric, I’m not sure else how I’d be able to prove that it’s a quality game. It has better reviews than many of the nominees in various categories. Lies of P, Dead Island 2, Ghostrunner 2 and Party Animals, for example.

Again, I’m not (and never have) been saying that Hogwarts should be nominated for GotY. Its critical reception wasn’t good enough for that. However, its reception was good enough to be nominated for other categories. For example, Best RPG. Do I personally think it’s a good RPG? No. I wouldn’t even consider it an RPG.

I think we have very different definitions of sequel. The game doesn’t have Arkham in the title. You don’t play as Batman. It’s not a brawler. It doesn’t take place in Gotham. Basically, it has nothing to do with the Arkham games aside from being set in the same universe. Calling it a sequel to Arkham Knight is like

Are we pretending that TotK or BotW are representative of most SP games..? The vast majority of SP games stop receiving any attention within a month. That isn’t and has never been a reliable measure of quality. For example, The Talos Principle 2 just came out and is a great puzzle game. However, I haven’t seen anyone
