Wow, that escalated quickly. Please, try to act like an adult and keep the discourse civil.

Yeah, screw all those really really poor people who have nothing to do with this and no influence in politics, like most poor people around the world. F-them because you think all Africans are alike. You want to be judged based on the Trump branch of the Republican party? No? Then why would you put all Africans living…
I drove through Bridgeport. I think I stopped for dinner somewhere around there.
While the airframe business is likely to stay in place, at least for the forseeable future, the complex software and systems integration work may be consolidated at the LM facility in Owego, NY where the Navy MH-60 R&S area already missionized.
Really? I thought it would be great what with being so close to NYC and Mass.
I doubt that this will have any impact on that competition. If anything it could drive the competition the other way to keep the supplier base viable.
Because the only organization that is worse and managing schedules, budget, requirements, etc, etc, than giant defense companies is the government. If you run any case studies of big defense programs gone wrong, you will see as much culpability on the government side as the contractor side.
“Sikorsky - A Lockheed Martin Company” At least for now.
For the near term at least... “Sikorsky - A Lockheed Martin company”
There is a lot of overlap between the integration work done by Sikorsky and the work being done by the LM facility in Owego, NY. Right now the Navy helicopter mission equipment integration is done by LM already. I would expect some of that overlap to be eliminated, which side takes the hit I don’t know.
Meh. I know a couple of 17 year olds that would be fine, and I know at least as many 22-25 year olds that would NOT be fine, and may never be fine for such a thing.
With the mechanical aptitude and work ethic I see from many folks lately, I would NOT count on the world being safer.
It is within visual range so none of the crap they listed mattered
Our allies aren’t going to buy this POS like they do F16’s and God help them if they do.
Just wait until the government decides to replace them with the QF-35
Yes, the fence didn’t do it’s job. Should have been a concrete and steel fence, 50’ tall. Spectators behind it with a steel roof over their heads.
It has more to do with who is paying for it. If the Saudis come in with a C-5 full of cash and ask us to build them an airplane, we’re going to do it. That money helps offset development cost for capabilities also used by the US, and we’d rather know exactly what they’re getting.
But but but what if the tail hook had caught a power line?
Having lived across the street from a guy that owned an AMC Eagle, I’m not surprised.
Fun for the flying parts, not so much for the acting/writing.
