The 3M guys are pretty smart. It is possible that there is some sort of material on the roll that would stick to the non-sticky side of the tape.

It does fly. It is currently in flight test and being used for training. In theory the US Marines will go operational with it sometime this year. YouTube has a bunch of videos of if flying.

Had three RAT 7s with constant tracking issues. All three replaced under warranty. Eventually got one that worked better, but I still don't think they track as well as my Logitech. Too bad because I really liked the mechanical design and ergonomics of the RAT.
