So, if Michigan lawmakers pass rules to allow Tesla to sell direct to consumers within the state, will the dealers lobby accuse the lawmakers of conflict of interest by trying to manipulate the value of their investments?

“Tesla used to be a company that made super sedans from the space rockets guy. Now it’s a company that makes minivans from a dude selling solar roofs to people who still clip their phones on their belts.”

The only reason Tesla isn’t making a profit on paper is because they spent $5 billion on the Gigafactory. The Model S and Model X are priced to be about 20-25% profitable at current volumes. I believe that’s a higher profit margin than most normal gas cars.

This is a load of bullshit and you know it.

I honestly can’t think of anything worse than for one of the big three to buy the company that got the industry to take electric cars seriously.

That’s pretty impressive to see the Tesla take a hit like that and still be identifiable. You can see how much energy was involved from the path of the truck.

Actually you bring up a very good point. Search the Leaf forums. Nissan dealers are universally reviled as being completely ignorant of the Leaf, reluctant to sell it, and often times actively attempt to steer sales to other cars.

You completely missed Tesla’s point. Their cars are different because they are electric. Not because they’re high-tech or hip or whatever. What other industry forbids sales by the manufacturer? It’s political cronyism at it’s worst. “sorry sir we can’t sell you our macbook directly, visit one of our dealerships, they

I’m certainly no expert on the law as to disclosures or reporting of accidents, but it doesn’t seem like the Big Three would report a single accident involving one of their cars to shareholders, even if it were related to a safety system failure. Remember, there there was no NHTSA investigation yet, and these systems

real talk: i have a friend who runs a sustainable clothing start up and they pay fortune magazine for press about them. fortune magazine is an advertorial. elon musk calling attention to that isn’t him being cranky - we like elon musk because he reminds us of the tony stark we all want the world to have: vocal CEO of

I always wondered about that. Pretty cool actually, such a small detail makes such a big difference in the look of a cars interior.

As a Model S owner who has driven long distances, I’d prefer the Superchargers be located somewhere with lots of options. Shopping malls are great because there’s usually 5 or 6 different eating options, and plenty of other things too if I’m not hungry. In the PacNW, Tesla has been locating Superchargers at Fred

You’re going to find lemon law buybacks on pretty much every model of every make under the sun. The law is fairly generous in the consumer’s favor, many people don’t realize they qualify.

Porsche doesn't have an electric car. The end

Porsche has a 60 year head start on Tesla.

Tesla doesn’t? I must be imagining those Teslas that I see in my office car park, or on transporters leaving the factory.

That goes without saying. And yet you said it. TO THE PITS.

Tesla shouldn’t have introduced disruptive technology...that’s actually what ‘ sparked this “ fire” in the first place '.

@picrad: urghh... i prefer the black n white drabs than all this tacky yellow n pink!!!
