just get rid of picture posting for burners and only allow them for registered users.

Slate's commenting system (Livefyre) has issues, but it only allows pictures/gifs from certain websites to be posted in comments. Maybe something like that? At least for awhile. Not that that is a fix either. But maybe a deterrent for the a-holes that post the porn.

Don't allow burners to post gif images. This would also have the happy side effect of reducing posts where someone posts, say, a gif of people applauding instead of just saying "wow, that's really on-point and accurate."

Honestly? Get rid of inline images in comments. Sure, we all love cat GIFs, but if that is the price for being able to have a discussion without being assaulted with violent pornography then I think it is worth it. That or going back to the greys are the only effective solutions. At least give authors the option…
