Eh, I think there is a little bit of truth to this, main reason being that if there are any hills, cruise will actively decelerate the car on the downhill which wastes the energy. This is particularly true of modern cars that have ACC and will actually apply the brakes with cruise rather than overrunning the set point.…
Not really advice, just a really facepalm’er...
Pulse-and-gliding can get appreciably better gas mileage than holding a steady speed, but will also drive anyone driving behind you nuts.
They did this on Mythbusters and I’m pretty sure they found that the only way to get appreciable benefits from drafting a semi was to be inches from the bumper so your mom nailed it lol.
There was some truth (or at least logic) to that in the country I used to live (Brazil). Crooked gas station owners would cut the regular gas with solvents, but would leave the premium gas alone, because the kind of car that drank that stuff (luxury imports) would choke on the spiked gas almost immediately.
It depends on the car and the tires. Most tires have a “max inflation” limit that is higher than the auto mfgr’s “recommended” inflation levels on the doorplate label. I routinely run my tires a few PSI over the label, no ill effects, and my wear patterns have met or beat the tire’s warranty. Some will say that higher…
I call bullshit. No way you can sit behind a tractor trailer, at any speed, or any distance, in neutral and continue at speed for an hour.
I don’t think anyone with any measure of intelligence is recommending ditching a perfectly good car for an expensive EV to save money. That argument comes in a little bit when comparing new cars when you’re ready to get one. Gas where I live is about $4.30/gallon right now. If I fill up once a week, that’s about…
Obligatory Shaq’s gas theory reminder:
Almost every trick of my dad’s.
Good driver training too. We don’t have that. Most states don’t even have car safety inspections.
The US has 300% more vehicle deaths per capita than Germany. How does Germany do that? Not with any of that BS you wrote about. They have strict licensing requirements and good transit infrastructure.
I’d be a bit nervous about the delivery window and even the underlying hardware issue. Did they replace a preferred DSP/chipset with something older that’s incompatible with the new Carplay implementation (bad because old) or something newer that just hasn’t been coded properly for yet?
Exactly how many OE infotainment systems have you tried? The standard BMW infotainment system is pretty decent. Of all in-house infotainment systems, BMW probably has the most experience and longest history.
when they built it it was surrounded by mosquito infested swampland and the east river was basically a sewer..
today it is between the two runways of LGA, so would be noisy as fuck to live there, only one way on or off the island so traffic would be a shit show
People pretending that crank windows are more reliable and have finer control are always funny. I remember tons of crank windows that broke, and tons that just weren’t particularly exact in their use.
“Roman filed a suit against Tesla. Except that he couldn’t proceed with the case:”
“After everything I’ve been put through, I am still a huge believer in Tesla, Elon Musk and electric cars,” he said.
