I’d be a bit nervous about the delivery window and even the underlying hardware issue. Did they replace a preferred DSP/chipset with something older that’s incompatible with the new Carplay implementation (bad because old) or something newer that just hasn’t been coded properly for yet?

Exactly how many OE infotainment systems have you tried? The standard BMW infotainment system is pretty decent. Of all in-house infotainment systems, BMW probably has the most experience and longest history.

a fascinating attempt at reaching middle class Americans who may be fed up with the whiny and entitled attitude Musk has so often shown on Twitter

when they built it it was surrounded by mosquito infested swampland and the east river was basically a sewer..

today it is between the two runways of LGA, so would be noisy as fuck to live there, only one way on or off the island so traffic would be a shit show

You can also spend this here more $$money if you want 4k, a standard part of service in our competitor’s companies!

People pretending that crank windows are more reliable and have finer control are always funny. I remember tons of crank windows that broke, and tons that just weren’t particularly exact in their use.

That’s not “getting it straight,” that’s removing key information.

Boy, this joke is just flying over people’s heads today. The joke is that the production model will be terrible enough to pick apart when it arrives, because Tesla.

I see that Kinja is doing its usual rearrangement of links to move the associated text out-of-order.

Manufacturers show imperfect pre- and early production vehicles to the press and public all the time.

Where are all the “direct sales will save us all” folks? Tesla literally says you can return the car without an issue, but wrote in an arbitration clause so you can’t do it easily.

Roman filed a suit against Tesla. Except that he couldn’t proceed with the case:”

Is it also unfair to pick apart a almost 10 year old car Model S cars from Tesla now for its shoddy build quality?

“After everything I’ve been put through, I am still a huge believer in Tesla, Elon Musk and electric cars,” he said.

While the stars might align, Tesla body panels never will.

While your image is clearly terrible craftsmanship, this vehicle is an early prototype, build predominately by hand. I am happy to criticize Tesla, but I’ll criticize a production-model

This is not good! I don’t care how great Tesla is for breaking the mold and bringing EV’s to the masses. When your company is already notorious for panel gaps, you just don’t put shit like this out on display.

I really don’t care about fit-and-finish when something else more basic seems much more important: aerodynamics. I’ve read Bronco owners experience all sorts of wind noise due to the blocky nature of that truck.  And here the Origami Truck looks 10 times worse in the aerodynamics department, so will its wind noise

It’s unfair to pick apart a prototype for its specific issue related to non-serial build quality.  General issues and serial build quality will be enough to pick it apart when its time.
