To add onto your comment, the USG is currently in the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage for GBSD program, so we are certainly on our way to getting a new system. I know he linked to an article that had some of that in there, but it wasn’t all that prominent in this article and I think it’s a point that bears repeating.

It’s unstoppable if it works. I think the idea is that the older generations of delivery systems are getting harder and harder to maintain.

Great point. My biggest complaint is not the size or scope of military spending, but where funds are allocated.

My personal belief is that we’ve allocated way too much to emerging technology development, and too little to maintain what we already have. Basically, we’ve been buying the cool toys, but not paying the mortgage.

It’s more like putting off changing the oil in your car. Sure you can go past the recommended mileage, but at some point other problems will come up because of your negligence.

I would imagine they use the water-injection at other points to get some additional thrust, otherwise they’re just running inefficiently for no good reason other than because they’re Russian.

Now I want to see a gif of a missile with glasses and deal with it flashing underneath.

The platform will be re-engined, in large part because the current ones are not particularly fuel efficient and leaves a black streak in the sky that competes with the Kuznetsov aircraft carrier for being a major environment killer.

No, I just choose not to live my life as a cynic. If there aren’t consequences to illegal abuses of power, then we’re fucked regardless.

That last quote from the article is a very well thought out peice, and would be excellent advice to be taken. Great find!

My original point was just to provide some clarity on something that wasn’t clear in the OP’s original statement. A lot of people here have seemed to believe that he’d still have some sort of involvement with ExxonMobil, which the exact opposite has been reported. If you don’t believe those reports, then so be it. I

Right, but I don’t think they want to esacalate this. I think they like it right where it’s at: cheap, clean (from the Russian point of view since they don’t officially have their hands involved), and popular among the Russian people. If it escalated it would force their hand to do something they don’t want to do,

I think the idea is that if we armed the Ukranians appropriately, the Russians would have to increase their support of the “rebels” thereby effectively removing the mask that they’re not supplying them.

Hahahaha I wish I could, but working while commenting don’t always equal quality proofreading.

Someone obviously didn’t get the optional rust proofing from the dealer. Always a great value.

Hey, don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just quoting what has been reported.

Tillerson doesn’t own Exxon... he’s the CEO. Major difference. But I’m sure he still has plenty of interest in the companies will being though as I guaratee a decent amount of his compensation is probably in some form of stock options, not just cash.

Now I feel like I’m the one being trolled as all you’ve said so far is “wow, you’re an idiot” without any argument to the contrary. I’m not even sure what your point of disagreement is.

Right, and I was going to say something along the lines of, well why don’t we try to trade more, and CAPITALISM!, and put a Starbucks on every corner, but then thought about exactly what you said: Some of these leaders are impossible to deal with regardless.
