I still think Pacific Rim has longer legs than people think and part of that is characters like those scientists. The movie is smarter than you may think at first blush and I have a feeling people will come back to it more often because of that.

Why Robert Shaw wasn't nominated for at least a best actor Oscar is a travesty. This one scene alone should have gotten him in.

The Twilight Zone kinda played with this idea, as well. The episode "A World of Difference" has a man in his office who suddenly discovers that his entire "life" is actually just a movie, and that he's actually an actor playing the part of the man he thought he was.

Its more of a matter that the whole trigger warning thing has been diluted by people using trigger warning frivolously.
