Problem with SOME people who don’t like SF/F is that, if they read any of these books and liked ‘em, they’d simply say: “But that’s not SF/F... because it’s good.” I’ve actually had a highly-educated, self-proclaimed “lit snob” tell me Game of Thrones isn’t fantasy b/c Martin based it on War of the Roses.

Sportsball.

Yes. Beautiful to look at, but deeply flawed in terms of story. When you have no characters to care about, spectacle fatigue sets in. Kind of had the same exp. in seeing Prometheus.

An in-depth analysis of the original Star Wars reveals a near-perfect Campbellian Hero's Journey (despite a late entrance by the protagonist). I do this study in my scifi/fantasy writing course. The same sort of analysis of TPM shows Jar-Jar as the only character who truly qualifies as any type of protagonist

Perhaps one of these guys left it there during their quick excursion to the primordial soup.

Oh, "kiss of death" Summer Glau is in it! That explains the whole "doomed" aspect of the distribution. Every show she's in gets cancelled. In this case, it was cancelled before it could get released!

America is doomed.

Love the ending of DS9.

Yep. I teach English and creative writing online... and the combo of tech + humanities = satisfaction (at least for me).

Should have done the experiment on the island of Qwghlm.

Tea, Earl Grey. Hot.

GWAR show.

Actually, "Beer Bad" is pretty representative of some of the more-or-less "one off" episodes of Buffy. In terms of its actual story construction, Tracy Forbes and Joss Whedon do a darn good job, with some funny and extremely competent setup-buildup-payoff. A lot of fans don't like it because it shows Buffy as weak

As an Okie, this would have been nice. Oklahoma would have been one of the biggest and most prosperous states in the union. We would have encompassed huge areas of TX, NM, CO, KS, MO, AR, and even LA!

I dream of this constantly...

I know it's been done, but I'm doing it again just for old times sake.

The SDCC crowd went wild for this? Wow. Full-tilt Placebo Effect.

It's about time some good Star Wars ties came out... I have lots of novelty ties, most of which are pretty awesome, even bordering on tasteful. The Star Wars ties available so far have been somewhat lacking in both areas.
