LMDh cars will be racing in the same class as hypercar - they will be restricted to be running at the same pace. Now, hopefully the governing bodies realize that they need to speed that pace up, but if they don’t, LMDh will certainly be pegged back to be on equal ground with Hypercar.

DPI isn’t just bodywork though, they run manufacturer engines based on a road car unit as well....which is basically what LMDh (aka DPI 2.0) is, plus a spec hybrid system.

TBH I don’t think LMDh is a problem, it’s hypercar that’s the issue. They could easily speed up LMDh to the pace of the current DPIs.

There has to be a tunable restriction of some form. I’m not sure on hypercar, but on DPI cars N/A engines have air restrictors and turbo engines are just limited on maximum boost. I would assume hypercar is probably limited the same way.

I think it’s pretty clear that Hypercar and LMDh need to be sped up a bit instead of pegging LMP2 back even further. Surely it’s not too late to give them another 50hp or so?

As the owner of an STI Hatchback this is very interesting to me as it could be my next car in a couple years. The big question is how much it will weigh and if it will come with a manual transmission. Hopefully they can keep it down around or under 3000 lbs.

Not too bad. My very first vehicle was from my birth year (a 1991 S10 pickup) and I’ve owned some other cars very close (1990 C4 ZR-1 and 1990 SW20 MR2) which were perfectly enjoyable. I could deal with it. Would probably swap my current STI for an ST185 Celica GT4.
