Replace the valve guides with bronze ones, replace the valves with either new OEM or Titanium. It was less an issue with the valves themselves and more an issue with the guides wearing which then allowed the valves to move around too much and break.

Thanks! They didn’t come on the car but they are factory, they’re the Z06 ‘spyder’ wheels that were an option on 2009-2013 Z06es

I’ve done a couple 4 hour road trips with it in the last month or so. It hasn’t been super warm out, but I’ve had no issues. The main luggage compartment was fine (had some chocolate in the back on one of the trips and it didn’t melt). The little subcompartments in either corner at the back (battery is in the right

Big V8s are the eeeasiest cars to learn stick on. That low end torque makes it very easy to pull away without needing too much finesse

Mine is wrapped - it’s a 3M color called Gloss Glacier Grey that I’m very happy with. There’s a fairly similar OEM color called Night Race Blue but I think it was only offered in 2012-3 for the C6es

Absolutely agreed. That’s why I bought this 3 months ago:

^This. My 08 ZX-6R is plenty happy to pull the front wheel up through all of first gear if you launch aggressively. More torque wouldn’t make it faster at all. And first gear goes to 120km/h

Better for rock crawling / driving over big stuff basically. Solid axle tends to be stronger, simpler to lift (to fit big tires), and gives you better articulation to keep the tires planted (again, in general).

Honestly, if they made an Eclipse Cross Evolution that could handle going off jumps in the desert, I’d be onboard.

There is one thing that Mitsubishi could do that would make me ok with this direction: go all in on SUVs. Make a new Pajero Evolution. Fight the Ford Raptor in the fast off-road space. If you can do that, I will forgive a lack of sports cars. It isn’t like you haven’t done cool SUVs before...

That makes more sense! I guess they don’t have the rules for EVs clearly defined yet so they are just going with veto power to keep outrageously high budget builds out.

Even better! If you could get the entire build done for under 50k you MIGHT not even lose too much money. (Assuming you win)

Well, the problem there is someone who just wants to through money at the problem to win can’t do that with a regular car because of the “$500" spending limit. Looks like that limitation is not applicable here.

Powertrain systems and batteries DON’T count to the $500 cap? Is there any limit on how much a team could conceivably spend on those, then? Buy a new P100D and rip out the powertrain to stuff under a $500 crapcan?

So a piston velocity of 21m/s at the 11,100rpm? Seems like a reasonable guess, and fits with the ‘approaching 26m/s’ quote.

No published stroke figures so I can’t calculate exactly, but from the car and driver article about the engine: “the piston speeds approach those of a modern Formula 1 engine at around 26 meters per second”, so presumably the valkyrie will use whatever F1 rods are made of. I believe modern F1 engines are around

I will certainly grant you that basically everything looks better with gulf livery :P. Here’s one in silver.

I dunno, in the 60s they made the G4 which I always thought was pretty cute.

Yeah, I mean, I should be used to it by now, but a headline that literally says “GM is just bad at everything” is a little rankling.
