Corvettes have to be downplayed by auto journalists, that’s how it works. They are too high performance relative to anything similarly priced to be allowed to exist unchecked. :P
It doesn’t feel incredibly fast (though not slow enough that I found it a problem while playing the demo) when you’re in wide open spaces, but it feels pretty quick once you’re in the caves and tunnels.
Front fender is carbon fiber on a Z06 like above, but otherwise, yes, absolutely! Get them weight savings.
I would say in several respects the 0-60 time is even more misleading. Cars that require fewer shifts to get to 60 (see: why corvettes can go juuust faster than 60 in first gear) and cars that have awd and launch control for better launch off the line would have far better 0-60 times, even though in a roll race from…
Not dreaming, no. However, what you’re thinking of was the difference between Gross and Net horsepower, not brake (flywheel) and wheel horsepower.
Thanks! Keep an eye out, I’ve been around. I may make it out to big white this year as a volunteer depending how things go. My next TSD event is Thunderbird in Feb.
I always thought the 22B was referring to the fact that it had a 2.2L engine compared to the normal STI 2.0L.
Cars for TSD aren’t really regulated beyond basic safety requirements. I live in downtown Vancouver, I just drive out for the rallies.
Probably! I don’t know of any others that get rallied. I’ve done Thunderbird, Totem, Heart of Darkness, Trail of the Gnu, and Kettle Valley Rally
Yeah, fairly rare. Mine is #2023 of the 2500 they made. I know of 3 more in Canada, most are in Japan, the UK, or some in Dubai.
One of the things that I like to do for fun with my 1997 Pajero Evolution is compete in Time/Speed/Distance Rallies. This story is from one of the first I ever did, while my navigator and I were novices.
He absolutely would have. It’s one of the things he wanted to do when he was working on the corvette but was never able to, though he had a few mid engine prototype race cars made I believe.
Except there ARE spathi, and syreen, and Ilwrath...they just aren’t CALLED that and they look different. If you closed your eyes and listened to the dialogue they are pretty closely modeled on the old game.
C4 corvettes with the digital dash did it so that if the light sensor detected it was dark out it dimmed the dashboard to prompt you to turn the lights on. Don’t know why more cars don’t do it that way, makes sense to me.

Ah, right you are. I definitely thought they would had used steel for some reason.
