Fair point, but I get the sense that the Russo brothers had more say in the story and direction, rather than being puppets to the overseers. And maybe they weren't given direction of "here are the 30 scenes that must be in the movie, make it work to string them together."

Love to see love for Powell and Pressburger, and A Matter Of Life And Death is a great one. However, The Life And Death Of Colonel Blimp is my absolute favorite, and I just came to recommend that one for anyone interested in great cinema.

Pet peeve: TAUT. Taut thriller. A “taunt” thriller would be one that hurled insults at you trying to make you react.

First Avenger is still my favorite Avengers movie. Winter Soldier was... just another Avengers movie. Not that that’s a bad thing.
