I think she’s from a previous regeneration cycle, a whole other set of 13 Doctors. At the end of that cycle, the Doctor threw herself into the Looms and was reconstituted as a new Time Lord; a new Doctor. That’s the cycle that began with Hartnell and continued through Whitaker.

For the rest of existence, when some random bit of info or a terrifying warning needs to get to the Doctor, I will be completely okay if Capt. Jack swings by in the middle of his own completely different caper, drops some knowledge and disappears.

Honestly, I never use the “suspend game” function on my PS4. I’m kind of afraid of leaving it on and running like that, even though my system is always in rest mode when I’m not using it.
