Well, it would be a very small amount of cases, but if I were to say take my Miata to Track days/AutoX and put 1000 miles (Just a round number for arguments sake) on it. But it is still a on-road car, which I drive sparingly (4000 miles a year). I would have to pay a mileage tax on 5000 miles of which 1000 I did off

Raising gas taxes WILL NOT solve the infrastructure problem. Actually spending the gas tax ON ROADS will.

This, insert fierce applause gif.

"...overfunded programs."

like Senator/Congressman salaries.

Yeah this bullshit about "raising taxes will solve our problems" is truly just bullshit. I wish jalopnik wasn't so pinko.

If you based the VMT on vehicle weight (I assume more weight=more damage to roads), then I will only have to pay 23% more in road taxes for my Wrangler than a Prius (~3700 lbs vs. ~3000 lbs) instead of like 333% more when based on mileage (15 MPG vs. 50 MPG)

What actually bothers me here is that we're missing the best chance in a while to raise the gas tax, which is something we desperately need to do. All of our highways are funded by a gas tax and, while cars get more efficient (or electric), the amount of money in the pot to fix roads goes down, even as we have more

So rather than go with the argument that higher gas prices lead to more efficient, and ultimately more powerful engines, you went with the tired left wing bullshit that people shouldn't be allowed to drive what they want?

4th Gear: GM Not Disabling Airbags

Because a tesla wouldn't be able to be taxed on gas.

Agreed. Most of the time I hear about trademark lawsuits and the plantiff is usually getting the law all sorts of wrong (think North Face vs. The South Butt). But this time, everything indicates that Chrylser was in violation back in the 70's and they still are today.

It doesn't seem baseless at all to me. More importantly, the fact that you think it's illegitimate and I think it seems reasonable, completely fucking illustrates why we have our justice system in the first place: to settle disputes for which there are no easy answers. Doing away with the armchair quarterbacking is

Scat Enterprises, an aftermarket supplier of crankshafts, connecting rods, and rotating assemblies marketing under the term "Scat", has never used the term "Scat Pack". Scat Enterprises' lawsuit against Chrysler over Chrysler's 2014-15 Scat Pack™ vehicles is a meritless and opportunistic attempt to hold Chrysler

"Like Bathurst, the 6 Hours of Fuji was another epic race we didn't get on TV in the U.S. last weekend. Broadcasters, shame be heaped upon your heads. We could've at least squeezed in a couple hours of sweet enduro action somewhere in that light schedule."

Leaking oil sparked by an electrical issue.

They are Sports Cars, NOT Muscle Cars.

Really?

As others have said here, until the day arrives when I can drive anywhere in the country without fears about range the answer for that reason alone is NO.

Until Tesla can create a proven recharge network, it will never be the best overall vehicle, in my opinion. If you can't jump in the car, and drive across country without worrying about range limits, the value just isn't there.

This ignores the fact that EVs can be entirely the worst vehicle option for some people, such as people in apartments and condos. Or at least less than ideal for people who lives in a rural area.
