Yeah, I almost feel as if Kaz prices some cars based on how much he likes them rather than how much you would actually spend for one.

I’m just about through with the menu books, golded the licenses, and have hardly started the missions. For me, the economy is a non-issue so far. That said, I’m hovering right around $2M, which may be up to $2.5M, $3M tops depending on how many cars I need to buy/upgrade by the time I’m into the “endgame” (i.e. the…
It does look good, for now, but once you cover it with stickers and a weird paint job it will look much more “generic racecar” and less “holy crap that thing is gorgeous!”
I snickered. Well played.
You also have to consider that Mercedes was running a completely different car in Bahrain. My guess is the new one generates even more downforce, and is even more susceptible to porpoising than the body they had in Spain. I’m sure they’ll get it figured out as the season goes on, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they…
What? Why wouldn’t engines be covered under the cost cap? That’s like half the development cost of the car.
Man, I miss the C6R. And C7R for that matter. The C8R just doesn’t have the same gravitas that those cars did.
This. The end of that race could have gone down a number of different ways, and none of the outcomes were guaranteed. Masi could have told all cars to pass initially instead of saying they couldn’t. Merc could have gotten fresh tires along with Red Bull, or Red Bull stays out and Merc comes in. Lapped cars could have…
I like this take. Well put.
I do wonder how much taking all of those extra engines under the cost cap has affected their car this season. Seems like they put a lot of money into the design but not enough into validation. We’ll see if they’ve resolved things this weekend, but it looks like they have numerous issues to address to really get this…
Thing is, they have that line already. They just choose to use other things for some reason. It’s stupid and makes no sense. Then again, the penalties for running wide are toothless anyway, so it’s not like it really matters in anything but qualifying.
Everyone starts from a somewhat level playing field this year, though, apart from engine development. The cars themselves are completely new, and if anything the most successful teams had the most disadvantages with spending curtailed and wind tunnel time limited, plus they blew more of last year’s budget on last…
I’m not upset, I just genuinely don’t understand why anyone would want a modern car that looks like an old car but with none of the character. To me, the whole point of classic cars is the feeling and driving characteristics, the styling is just a bonus. This pulls nothing from the classics other than the styling,…
No? Because Toyota has already been winning for years since they were literally the only hybrid entry. I would think the teams entering Hypercar would prefer to be able to win overall rather than continuing to be shamed by a 5 year old hybrid design grandfathered in from when they used to compete.
Isn’t Toyota the only hybrid car in the field? And haven’t they dominated everything since Porsche left? I get they built cars to the rules, and it sucks for them that the rules are being changed, but they’ve enjoyed quite a bit of success being completely unchallenged the last few years, so something eventually had…
But it’s not a resto-mod. It’s a new Mustang body on top of a new electric car frame with a modern interior. Maybe I’m just not enough of an attention-seeker to understand why someone would want a car that looks like something it’s not.
I wanted to get upset about that, especially because of his bad takes in the past, but unfortunately I 100% agree with him. The only time I ever took even a passing interest in GTD AM was when Dempsey was driving, and that was only because of all the coverage his team got which I figured would be good for the sport…
International waters!
In this case, the rule in question is related to safety, not cost. But in general I think I agree with your sentiment, assuming teams are actually honest about their spending (LOL).
I’m not sure what point you’re trying to make. Any game can run on anything if you remove enough features and run it at a low enough resolution. Especially if you’re willing to make changes to the hardware like “just double the RAM”.
