While I don’t disagree with you, I will point out that you’re downplaying what R&C is doing a bit. It’s not storing the “alternate universe” version of levels in RAM, it’s actually loading them from the SSD each time you switch. You could store both versions in RAM, but that would take a TON more RAM than the PS4 has,

I tend to agree when it comes to the actual racing, but there are moments in scapes and replays that just make my jaw drop on PS5. Definitely not a dealbreaker to not have on PS4/Pro, but when it hits just right it is mighty impressive.

I haven’t checked PS5 prices in a few months, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were going up. It’s an actual second job to get one, but all of my friends have managed to buy one for retail (although they had to buy bundles from Gamestop). I was lucky to get mine preordered at launch, but I had no idea availability

Oh, so it’s like a PT Cruiser when they first came out. Got it. Yes, I can see how that’s super cool.

That wasn’t true of Sport and it’s not true of 7 either. GT consistently has spectacular controller integration to the point where some things are actually way easier on a controller than on a wheel (like drifting, for instance).

That’s been my experience as well, but in addition I’ve been looking at the throttle indicator on screen since it doesn’t really line up well with how much actual throttle input I’m using.  Turns out the throttle is REALLY sensitive compared to how far you’re actually pressing the pedal, which gives you about 10-15%

The “free money” actually kept me from preordering it, but after reviews came out I said “screw it” and preordered so I could preload it. I’ve just been collecting prize cars, haven’t actually bought anything other than one of the starter cars they recommend, a Mustang and a truck that I needed for certain races.

I doubt GT will ever come to PC, but if it does it won’t be for at least 2-3 years.

I golded the licenses over the weekend with only ABS on (except for S10 where I turned everything on after an hour of failure), but that’s on a wheel. It seems to me that it’s not so much an issue of inaccurate traction simulation, but more of inaccurate throttle simulation. If you watch the throttle gauge you’ll see

So I’m horrible with remembering corner names (much less straightaways) on tracks. For Bathurst I’d refer to them (in order) as pit straight (which is barely a straight), front straight, and back straight.

No.  Just no.  My only response to all that marketing double-speak is no.

You’re correct that there’s a “cop-out” rule in place, which basically just invalidates all of the other rules. What he did was against all of the rules except that one. Which, again, is technically within the rules, as you stated.

Ahh, I see what you’re saying. They should be able to just add a lap to the lapped car’s timing instead of physically sending them around the track. I’ve always wondered why they don’t do that as well, and I just chalked it up to European traditionalism or something.

“unlap” just means pass the safety car (or at least the race leader).  It doesn’t mean they need to come all the way back around to the back of the pack.

My experience is all I know at the moment, and based off of that, healthy kids are at basically zero risk.  I’d be happy to take a look at any evidence to the contrary, but from what I’ve experienced I’d rather my kids get Covid than the stomach bug they brought home last week.

According to the people I’ve talked to (one of whom works in corporate for a day care chain), it’s insurance.  Now maybe insurance is basing their requirements on local recommendations, but even if the recommendations change I doubt they’ll do anything.  Also, in my area, not all day cares close down for positive

As far as I know there is no such requirement. The rules state that “any” lapped cars (interpret as you will) shall pass the safety car, and after that has happened the safety car will stay out one more lap before coming in. The problem is that only “some” of the lapped cars were allowed to pass, and the safety car

As a parent of a kid under 5 who has had it, umm... do I need to tell myself?

“sitting ducks”? My kids got it and didn’t even feel it. My wife and I had a rough week when we had it (we’re both vaxed), which was fortunately over the holidays anyway, but I’m not seeing kinds being at much risk unless they have other compounding health issues.
