Yes I've seen that when two players stand each other up for some reason, which happens in rugby and even in football a fair amount. Lots of other interesting tackling "strategies" in rugby, based on the ball runner or tackler, or even to set up a maul or hold up a try, that can be taught and implemented.
Good point. Lui probably could have had his head up a bit more, just to have a straight back more than "see what you hit."
This would be considered a near perfect tackle that drives the opposition straight back and allows to quickly jump to your feet and either poach the ball or start the ruck. While Lui's main goal was to get a big hit, he also was aware to finish the tackle by actually jump straight up and keep playing.

I don't think he was going for a punch but to quickly get on his feet to legally poach the ball. You are not allowed to touch the ball if you are still on the ground. Lau hit the aussie so hard he did not know the ball got knocked so far back.
