Couldn’t agree more. Was confused when I read that reaction. This isn’t an up and coming young studio. This is one of the most famous animation studios in the world. They could have basically any artist they want to work on this.

Everyone’s saying the animation is “a good first try,” but would we say that about any other studio? I feel like there’s a lot of Ghibli bias making people way more forgiving than they should be. First attempt at CGI or not, this does not look good.

He feared for his life from his father, he was forced at gunpoint to "perform".
Rape is Rape.

Never would have pinned Carl as the first Shameless character to make me cry.

"If the implication is that, as a rule, I am horrified by sexual violence
committed against women by men but unmoved when the gender roles are
reversed, then you are incorrect"

Lots of interesting points here. I've obviously come around on Jimmy much more than you have, but looking back, I have a different view of the season one offer than I did then. At the time, I thought "He's such a jerk, doesn't he understand the kids need Fiona?" But this show has bent over backwards to demonstrate how

I'm not throwing anything around, it was rape. She went for Lip's crotch when he was clearly saying "stop" and trying to push her away. Then she pushed him down and mounted him anyways. Given the way this show has treated some of its other events (Carl nearly murdering a family member or the whole "butterface"

Given how bothered you were at last week's scene between Jody and Karen I'm surprised you didn't make more of Mandy raping Lip in this episode.

Here's the odd thing, fundamentally, I disagree with most of the points being made about Jimmy here. The scenes featuring him but not Fiona were annoying and lost on me. With any luck Jimmy is dead and his absence will allow Fiona (painfully) move on.

I think Jimmy was very attracted to Fiona and like the idea of dating her because he saw himself as a white knight saving her.  In the first season he kept pushing this whole "let me show you how great life is!"  and how he's this great guy because he'll stay with her even though her life's a mess.  Now that the

The offing of Jimmy seemed pretty strait forward by the final scene we saw him in…really, I was waiting for some kind of police action at the last minute to Save Jimmy (sort of Daughter turns state evidence against father to get immigration leneancy for example, or something a little more believable) but we didn't get

Agreed. As someone stated above, they perfectly set it up. He wasn't looking for sexual gratification, he simply connected to Lip's "do something she likes" point and her increased response to it.

With regard to the question raised regarding the coma oral sex, and Karen's inability to consent, it is repulsive to our sense of sexual autonomy, however within the context of the story I felt it was played in such a way as to removed a sexual dynamic from the question.

I believe they called that out this episode and justified it. "Bad parenting". That said, you're not rooting for Ian and Mickey just a little bit? And even Lip and Mandy? I think the show has done a good job showing us the chemistry and affection between the two couples, doomed as they may ultimately be. Mandy in

If a woman had been held at gunpoint and forced to have sex with someone she didn't want to have sex with, is there any chance you wouldn't have seen it as rape?

I doubt that. Male bisexuality is pretty rare for US television and I don't think the writers would want to go in that direction anyway. Ian's already been established as not at all interested in girls from season one with the "not wired that way" line it would be way too out of character.

Maybe she's Highlander.  She cannot die.

I just hope the US won't follow the UK version for Ian, who becomes bi (and settles with a woman apart from occasional gay flings) in 4th season onwards.

I don't understand how Karen is going to survive that hit, although it seems like she will from the set-up at the end of the show.  Eyes open, no movement and bleeding out of a cracked open skull usually means death.  I'd think even immediate or soon enough that no ambulance could get her in time when it happened in

Debbie is the best, and Karen is a horrible human being.
