None. There are still too many overlapping brands within the same companies as it is. GM needs to kill a bunch, as does Stellantis (sp?). The cost duplication more than offsets the savings in shared platforms. From a worldwide perspective I could see Opel, Vauxhall, Buick all going this year, with a ton more

I see more action happening at a grass-roots level as well (COVID notwithstanding). I don’t know if the FIA have pushed their WIM initiative out to nation (and then club) level, but at least here (NZ) there’s a more organised push for females in racing. That will get easier as girls see others in the top classes

The momentum is building nicely, long may it continue, the more women able to show their skills the better. W-series supporting F1 races is another example of how females in motorsport are really starting to make serious inroads, rather than just being one-off “special events”. If a few of these ladies can grab the

Is the engine still so far forward that you can’t even see the windscreen from the front of the car?

As a non-US person, I’ve never found any (non-sporty) american car to be even vaguely interesting, but I’ve always wondered why the volt didn’t sell like hotcakes. At the time it seemed to be this perfect mix, like the next evolution of the Prius/hybrid model.

I miss Black Jesus, it was hilarious

Rumours are they’ll enter if they can use a 3.8l twin turbo V8 and the carbon tub from their roadcars, as it’s the only car they know how to make.

If it was anyone else and any other team it would be weird, but there’s a less than 1% chance he won’t be racing for them this season. I don’t think either side are particularly worried about it, other than sorting out the specifics, and it will take as long as it takes.

R&D is part of being a car manufacturer though, so it’s built into the costs for the company overall. It’s not a nice-to-have, it’s a core function of what the company exists to do.

It’s the gear that’s put me off getting a motorbike. I’d really only use it for short trips to the gym and stuff, and we don’t get snow/ice here, so it’s usually plenty warm, and honestly I’d be comfortable just riding in shorts and a t-shirt. I absolutely don’t want to have to spend 15 minutes getting into a leather

Yep, if the sponsor is big enough. There are plenty of drivers who are backed by a single large company, who supports them throughout their career.

Races aren’t added, changed or removed by the FIA, that’s all managed by F1 (Liberty Media). They’re the ones who are trying to get to 25 races a season, because the majority of their income comes from race fees.

This is also why it’s impossible to buy a decent Knight Rider KITT scanner (except custom), as the “trailing effect” due to the way bulbs go on/off doesn’t work with LEDs, without taking the time/effort/cost to program in the fade effects just right. None of the commercially available sets bother. Enthusiasts have to

Hmmm, no. The merits of using MC ratings to determine bonuses aside, bonuses themselves are an extra benefit due to meeting certain targets. That’s why they’re called bonuses. Whilst the methods used to distribute them could open someone up to claims of “holding them hostage” (i.e. setting ridiculous targets) the

The phrase is “all of a sudden”, not “all of the sudden”.

Is this just an updated version of their existing carbon tub and twin-turbo V8 with 2 fewer cylinders? Is there any info on whether it’s actually brand new stuff?

You posted it earlier. That concept is a rehashed R8, which I suspect is one of the reasons it didn’t go into production, although to be fair I don’t think it was intended to, it’s likely more of a true concept and lead into the design that came later with Taycan etc

Cause it’s an Audi R8 and the Taycan isn’t?

Ferrari are a race team, so it’s more like wearing a cap/shirt of your favourite NFL team, and no one bemoans that.

I suspect the airflow for all these tests was restricted by his t-shirt sleeves
