The problem is that no one, or rather very few, have used it as an effective tool as opposed to a gimmick. An entire movie doesn't have to be in that format for it to be engaging.

I always wonder why, especially for comic book movies, studios don't commission comic artists to draw the posters. Covers and variants are such a huge part of that culture. Seems like a no-brainer.
