Yeah, I do think the EPA harbors a bit of a bias against oil burners. My 11' Audi A3 TDI has averaged better than 43 MPG over the last 16,000 miles & 27 fill ups (mixed driving). 35/42 EPA rated MPG? Are you kidding me? My "worst" tank of gas was 39.3 (first one) and it hasn't dropped below 40 since. On longer trips,

What year is the car? The EPA rejiggered their mileage test in 2008 for the 2009 model year cars and then downgraded even the older ratings for people who went back to check.

At the time, we had a 2006 Volvo V50, which was originally rated at 22/30. We normally got 19 to 20 in town (a very hilly place where we lived),

Point of which I still cannot fathom. Are US manufacturers still so afraid of competition that would force them to improve quality and stop corner cutting that they lobby this kind of law?

"which will get us nowhere"

I like semantic arguments. They please me. Especially when there is no right answer that will please everyone.

I think I could respond with a straight face, with "But that's just like, your opinion, man" to every post here.

Semantics. What's a Sports Coupe? A 350Z? A Cayman?

Mini would like a word with you.

(for that matter so would the Peugeot 205 GTI and the Volvo 850 BTCC)

Mitsubishi 3000GT SL? Integra Type R? 90's Lotus Elan? Audi TT ?

None of them are sports cars? I'm not arguing, but I am about to question something. Is a 3000GT VR4? Is a TT Quattro/TT-S/TT-RS? Are they not the same cars in different trim lines / powertrain options?

I think that any definition that doesn't leave

Who is an athlete? What is a Pale Ale? What color is the sky (show your work)? Who buys an Altima Coupe? Why is a Murano CrossCabriolet?

This serves as a response to most of the comments: It's actually not a fixie; should have clarified that. Just a single speed with a coaster brake.

the 2014 vw jetta tdi has a 6 speed manual and 240 ft pounds tq.

Actually, it isn't 0 mpg on gas because that would mean you burned up a gallon of gas and went nowhere.

My 2010 Jetta TDI has 6spd manual and it's everything I expected it to be.

To be fair, you did do your little adventure in a city that is just all around bad for vehicles of any sort.

I know 2010+ Golf could be had in a TDI with 6-spd manual (this is what I drive). But I think they offered the manual 6-spd in the Jetta from 2009+? Maybe.. I'm not sure.

Let me get this straight. The average guy drives 20k a year or so, and you are being Debbie downer over a once every five year expense on a 65k car? If diesel catches on for Audi, the economy of the scale will bring the price down. If it doesn't, then I will continue to spend less on filters than I did on tires

Had an A4 TDI 6m on my honeymoon, driving from Monte Carlo to Barcelona. Hammered it at 150 kmh all day and worked out the average to almost 50 mpg! Great torque off the line, point and squirt handling, if Audi would bring the 6m/TDI in the A4 to the US, I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

Can't tell if you're just trolling but why is it a rip off? The guy can afford it, he actually rides (look at those legs!), and being an F1 racer, he probably appreciates all the high-tech accoutrements. Much of the tech and construction is the same as an F1 car, which costs a lot more than this.

Cause a DPF is WAY more expensive than batteries....

Ti is lovely, it's just absurdly expensive. Two of my "old" bikes inlcude a steel Seven 'cross bike (been riding it for 16 years) and a Ti Seven Teres, which is a soft tail that they no longer produce.
