I don't necessarily disagree with you, but do you actually think it is good enough to save Mitsubishi in the US market? At this point, I think that they need their new cars to be home runs, and, while they may be decent cars, I don't think they are nearly good enough to pull them back from the brink.

Yeah, its not so much that I have anything wrong with any of the cars in particular. I just think that the brand is not long for the North American market. I just don't see how the brand survives here in the US market with that lineup.

That can be said about most VWs and Audis, no?

They don't make that as a hardtop convertible, do they? Also no back seat.

The Xterra was completely redesigned in 2005. It shares virtually nothing with the first gen Xterras. Granted, that still means it is a 9 year old platform, but at least that is better than a 15 year old platform...

Yep. And, to some extent, the same problem with the Touareg. Pretty decent car, just a bit too high end to have much success in the VW lineup. VW really seems to be struggling with how to market itself in the US. Sometimes they go decidedly up market, sometimes decidedly down market, and in the end, consumers

Fiat 500C. They will drive Fiat 500Cs.

I don't disagree that it is actually a pretty decent car. The drivetrain is solid. The roof is neat. The interior is nice. The thing that gets me is that it costs almost $40k for a car that shares such obvious roots with the $17k Golfs and Jettas. Put some Audi badges and sheet metal on the thing and it actually

Oh god yes. I forgot those even exist.

I know. Mitsubishi had moments of greatness. But can you really see the brand surviving in the US? Could you really recommend a car to someone from a brand that may not even exist in this market in a few years? It is sad to see a quirky brand like Mitsubishi go, but I kinda think it is inevitable at this point.

I actually kinda like those. I would absolutely consider buying one as my commuter car if it had a manual transmission. They don't need to kill the whole car, just that awful CVT.

Volkswagen Eos. It's a convertible Golf that costs nearly 40 grand. It never sold well in the first place, and the car is essentially unchanged for the last 7 years, so I can't comprehend why anyone would buy it now. Just kill it already.

Mitsubishi. All of them. Just put the whole brand out if its misery already.

That would be great. His writing is outstanding.

Yeah, I would be very interested to see that. I also wouldn't be too surprised if the top 10 mostly consisted of one-liners and Simpsons references...

Yeah, everything seems to be on track. I am going crazy not being able to drive though :( I still have a month and a half of relying on friends and family for rides.

Ha. I've barely had time to post on Oppo or the FP. This COTD came right out of the blue.

Yeah, here in AZ I believe that the law is that you may turn into any lane as long as you can safely do so. However, the "defensive driving" techniques officially taught by the state are that you should always turn into the closest lane if it is possible to do so. Hence this is not so much a legal thing as much as

Yeah, there are always exceptions to every rule, it just drives me crazy to see people making every single turn incorrectly.

That law is a thing of beauty.
